“Terracotta Flask” belongs to the archaic period and Etruscan culture. It dates to the 6th century and it is made of terracotta and bucchero. The dimension of this decorative object is 6 5/8in. (16.8 cm) and is classified in the vase family. The reason that I choose this image is that the shape of the vase is created by a perfect circle. The color that is used to paint the object looks very modern and emphasizes the shape of the vase. The artist who created this artwork has imitated the body shape of a woman and both sides of the handles are her arms. In my judgment, the way how the handles are placed emphasizes a beautiful, elegant, and thin waist.
The access number of the image is 96.9.131 and was purchased in 1896 on a view at the Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 171. This artifact can be seen on the museum’s website.
