Today was a beautiful, crisp winter morning, with actual snow and little wind. We took advantage of the weather to look for the Hawk Owl and other birds, and to enjoy some fresh air. Tonight we are getting freezing rain into tomorrow, so no fun to be had outside for the next few days.
This weed was covered in hoar frost and caught the sun nicely. It may be Queen Anne's Lace or something similar.

West Montrose Covered Bridge, also known as the "Kissing Bridge", is a covered bridge in West Montrose, Ontario, within Waterloo Region and the last type of this style of bridge in Ontario. Built in 1880–1881 by John Bear, the bridge is still used by pedestrians, buggy traffic and vehicles weighing less than three tonnes over the Grand River.
One of my favourite trees is this gnarly old tree, which has survived countless freeze-thaw cycles when it is flooded each spring as the ice melts (hopefully very soon).
It provides protection from the currents of the raceway to ducks and geese, nesting opportunities for passerines, stake-out spots for the local hawks and falcons, and more.
