Omega Centauri is a globular cluster in the Centaurus constellation, around 17000 light years from earth.
Containing an estimated 10 million individual stars, Omega Centauri is quite sizeable to say the least (and in fact the largest globular cluster in our Milky Way galaxy as far as our observations have been able to show). What's perhaps even more interesting is the properties of some of those individual stars. Generally speaking, globular clusters formed in the early universe out of a single large cloud of gas. As such, you expect the majority of its stars to have certain things in common (age, composition,...). In the case of Omega Centauri, that's not the case.
The most commonly accepted explanation for this is that Omega Centauri is actually not a globular cluster but the remnant of a dwarf galaxy that collided with and got "absorbed" by the Milky Way. As a result, the core of said galaxy was able to gravitationally stick together while the outer layers got flung out and scattered all over the place. That core is what we now see as Omega Centauri.

NGC 5139 (Omega Centauri) is a globular cluster in the Centaurus constellation, around 17000 light years from earth.
With an estimated 10 million individual stars making up the cluster and a mass around 10 times that of your typical globular, it’s the largest known globular cluster in our Milky Way galaxy. With those types of statistics, you’d expect earthlike planets (and potentially life?) to be abundant here. That’s probably highly unlikely though.
Stars in Omega Centauri are so densely packed that their gravitational interaction with one another would make it very difficult/unlikely for potential planets to maintain stable orbits and favourable conditions (extreme temperature fluctuations) long term.

A row of Omega-3 dietary suppliments and their reflection, taken for the Macro Mondays group theme, "iSpy." The frame spans 1¾ -inches across.
I used to take these suppliments, but the latest studies suggest there is no health benefit to doing so; I now just photograph them.
Strobist/technical info:
The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights positioned 90° CL/CR, one-foot above and two-feet away from the subject. They were fired in Manual mode @ ¼ power through Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes.
The red LED of a Coast TX10 Quad Color flashlight was shown CL at camera level and exposed for 1s for highlights.
The SB900's were triggered by three PocketWizard Plus X triggeres.
Lens: Tokina AT - X M100 AF PRO D (AF 100mm f / 2.8 Macro) with 12mm extension tube attached.

After the demise of Sephiroth and the dismantling of the SOLDIER program, The newly freed experiments imbuded with the Sephiroth gene have gone rogue and have begun wreaking havok across Gaia. The Shinra Corporation implemented their own wetwork team of enhanced experimental soldiers to "clean up" their mess. One of these unamed experiments imbued with a an amalgamation of genes harvested from 3 of the best elite of the SOLDIER program, Genesis, Angeal, and Sephiroth. This weapon sweeps the length and breadth of the planet, eradicating any remnants of the failed program.
