Palousing - (pə-lo͞os′-ing)

The act of braving the roughest and most difficult primitive dirt roads deep in the furthermost isolated parts of the Palouse region of Eastern Washington in search of photographic glory.

-

I spent 4 days exploring and photographing the Palouse this past weekend. John Westrock was my companion and trusty navigator. Together we coined the term Palousing as we cruised these extreme "roads".

managed to combine a sunset, exercise and have the camera with me....not often the stars align

UAZ-452 - popular in USSR and other socialist countries offroad minivan, that has been produced since 1965.

Because of the external similarities to a loaf of bread, the van became known as Буханка (bukhanka, loaf) in Russian.

UAZ-452 is easy to repair and use, it has a reliable construction. All these together with off-road capabilities made this car eslecially popular in the Russian province.

Designed and manufactured in Brazil, this off-road is equipped with MWM 3.000cc TDI engine with a 10-speed gearbox and, as a comfort item, a freezing air conditioner.

It takes me anywhere!

The weather is still awful, rain and storm. Good thing that Lego is waterproof, so you can actually take something outdoors in bad weather, and this jeep is stable enough not to get blown away.

16 hours worth of rough terrain through the heart of the Welsh countryside. Gritty enough to turn your insides to mush and apart from a small 2 hour 'rest' to dig the vehicle out of a self inflicted trench it was smooth sailing.

I think Jeepinpixie's Jeep should join in here.

УАЗ-452, nickname "Bukhanka" [bread loaf] -- This tough as simple van has been produced with minor modifications since 1965. It is used as a transporter, ambulance, military vehicle -- a typical multifunctional utility van. Recently it has been promoted as a lifestyle van for camping and offroad adventures. I modelled it in its simple stock design, using a record number of 1x1 SNOT bricks. I chose to design the front with different kinds of slopes set off just a bit to get both a horizontal and a vertical shaping. The roof is made from 1x2 panels representing the grooves and a slight bow, the tiles in front allow for a slight overhang of the roof over the windshield.

As I said on Thursday, Johnny Thunder and the still nameless Safari Girl were looking for a way to sit side by side and not behind each otther.

I've now changed the Jeep with mudguards from the 200004 Jeep and suspension from the StuntCar 31085 by adding a 30149 cabin - which works astonishingly well. The two are delighted and went cruising in the mud right ahead.
