This is one of my favorites. This Oakleaf Hydrangea is planted in an old cow trough and is out back. It's tallest stem had grown to over 12 feet tall. Yesterday we had our first storm (tropical in nature) come through and oh my ... blew so hard this top-heavy stalk is bent way over. The only beautiful blossom so I got a few shady shots this morning, and tried to stand it back up somewhat. Well this was pretty hard to make, from sanding to cutting to fit a 1x2 plate perfectly in the stand. It is made of a Warhammer 40k stand with rocks, sticks, and moss. Hope you guys like it!

There were still a few leaves hanging on, mostly small ones close to the ground. A tremendous amount of acorns scattered about on the ground~good winter grub for the creatures.

Oakleaf hydrangea is native to southeastern United States. This one is growing along a path at Drumlin Farm, and Audubon animal sanctuary in Lincoln, Massachusetts.

This was my second choice for this week's theme Into the Woods. An Oakleaf Hydrangea blossom ...

Oakleaf fleabane typically flowers in spring and summer. It occurs naturally in sandhills and moist hammocks as well as in disturbed sites and along roadsides. A variety of pollinators are attracted to its blooms.

I discovered this oak leaf hydrangea nearby, I googled it but am confused by its variegated leaf colour. This is supposed to occur in the Autumn months, not in the Spring, but could not find a cultivar which matched this happening earlier in the summer.
