I joined Chris Dodds and some other great photographers at the Pond at Elephant Head to shoot some bats this past September. It's quite an experience. Despite technical difficulties that seemed to plague me, I still came away with some pictures I'm proud of. This bat was captured by setting your camera to take a picture every 10 seconds. A beam is set up across a small (read small "very" small") pond which triggers the flash as a bat crosses the beam. You end up with a lot of black images and some wonderful keepers. I'll post an example of the other set up which uses a flower the bats love and triggers for both camera and flash.
This is the second of two tugs that assisted/followed the Carnival Liberty out of the Harbor on St. Kitts in the summer of 2015. I had to capture these (there was another almost twin) because I loved the colors, especially after the rain. They were so vibrant compared to some of the others we had seen on our trip. This one is the Anjanvel. She helped fuel my desire to find and capture tugs and other work boats wherever I go.
but everything to do with the emotional charge generated by the photograph's operation as a memory trace.

The male Vermilion Flycatcher has such a distinctive look. Probably has to do with the thick, black eye-line. Like the female is a busy little bee. So much fun to watch. Wish we could see this beauty further North.

The other Trouble in Mind band I saw with super fun indie pop songs was En Attendant Ana. I hesitate to post two photos in the same day, mainly because I get the people lead busy lives, but I want to get back to some of my New Mexico photos. It's hard to balance everything considering I am always taking, if anything, too many photos. And, I always thought I was just a concert photographer but then I became really interested in street photography and then nature photography so perhaps I lack focus or else there is just not enough hours in the day.

This is Lake Louise, a glacier fed lake famous for it's turquoise water, majestic glacier and Alberta Rocky Mountains. I saw a beautiful model posing for her photographer. I thought the beauty of the surrounding and the beautiful model complement each other and captured the moment.

I had a major problem with privacy settings on my sets. This image (and some others) LOST ALL FAVes. Unfortunately Flickr support refused and were unable to solve the problem :(
My sincere apologies to all flickr members and groups that added this picture.
While storms and squalls were approaching from the west, this was the view on the other side, all sweetness and light. I'm always drawn to the dramatic, but found it hard to resist this beautiful late afternoon panorama. Not a soul about and clouds flying across, hard to beat really. The other side by Ron Sexsmith is fine.

… I was complaining the other day to Todd I never could catch Drift in a relax mode or asleep, because when I grab the cam he always jumps up … he has a sixth sense for it, even when I'm really really quiet (for a human that is) … but today I got him :) he had his eyes closed when I pressed the button, but this is close enough … this poor dog was só tired of being away from us the whole weekend he couldn't be bothered to get up …

There's a short foot bridge connecting Greenway Park with Koll business center. I was approaching from the Greenway side, when I saw movement near the other end. Soon, this scrub jay landed on the far end of the bridge and paused for a few shots.

In the beginning of years, when the world was both so new and so old, in the Diamond Shaped Island of the Southern Pacific Ocean, there was a Moaï facing the island's interior and thinking a lot. The Caracara bird was used to tell him the stories of the Ocean’s side. And there was too a magic rainbow, because the time was magic.

These 2 Warbling Vireos had been chasing each other along a trail, flying towards me. They zig zagged, with one in hot pursuit and landed in a nearby tree, For a couple minutes they perched on a branch chatterring away at each other with bursts of whistles, getting closer but with no contact. Suddenly they toook off again and the chase was on once more. Not sure if this was a courtship display or a territorial squabble, but it was neat to see.
