I knew in advance the sun would be setting behind the Maiden's Tower. When I arrived on site, I used the PhotoPills app AR mode to show the path of the sun, and I set my tripod one hour before. The app was spot on; I didn't have to move one inch/cm.

Identification

Habitat and Behavior

They are primarily ground feeders, hopping along the lawn, cocking their heads to the side to listen for earthworms just below the surface. They also forage for insects, caterpillars, and berries.
They are fiercely territorial, especially the males during the breeding season, but can be more gregarious in winter feeding areas.
Diet
Blackbirds are omnivorous. Their diet primarily consists of: Insects and Invertebrates: Earthworms, caterpillars, and other small insects.
Fruit and Berries: They eat a variety of wild and garden berries, as well as windfall apples and other soft fruits, especially in the autumn and winter.
Breeding and Nesting
The breeding season typically runs from March to July. The female builds a cup-shaped nest using twigs, grass, and mud, usually in a low shrub, bush, or tree.
Eggs:
The female lays a clutch of 3-5 bluish-green eggs with reddish-brown speckles.
Incubation:
The female incubates the eggs for about 14 days.
Fledging:
Both parents feed the chicks, which fledge (leave the nest) after another 10-19 days. The male often continues to feed the fledglings while the female starts the next brood.
Song
The male blackbird is renowned for its rich, mellow, and fluting song, which is one of the most loved sounds in British gardens. They sing from an elevated perch, typically in the early morning and late evening, and often after rain.
Cultural Significance
The blackbird is the national bird of Sweden. It has appeared in literature and music, notably in the nursery rhyme "Sing a Song of Sixpence" and the Beatles' song "Blackbird". Spiritually, blackbirds are often associated with mystery, intuition, and transformation in various traditions.

So I got the Cult shoes from Kustom9 and wanted to do something actiony with them.
I went to RK Poses to get the skateboard and the pose set is really easy to use with the prop.
A composite shot of the occultation of Mars by the Moon in the early hours of 8th December 2022. This image transposes shots of Moon and Mars taken with a Celestron Edge HD11 scope a few hours before the occultation. The images are placed on top of the actual shot to provide a more detailed luminance layer (I couldn't use the main scope for the occultation as a tree blocked the view from my observatory!)

A series of shots taken over 13 minutes showing the occultation of Mars by the Moon, the earlier shots taken one minute apart, a shorter period between the final shots.
Images captured from London just before 5am on the 8th December 2022. Canon EOS 6D, 200mm telephoto lens with 2X Teleconverter (effective fl 400mm)
I witnessed the occultation of Mars behind the Moon. This is a composite of six exposures, 5 minutes apart starting at 6:37pm local time in Cupertino, California. In the San Francisco Bay Area we had the privilege that the red planet was traveling dead center behind the Moon. In reality it's the other way around, the Moon travels in front of the stars in the background. I took these shots with a 600mm lens and a 2x tele extender on a crop sensor camera, resulting in a 35 mm equivalent of 1800mm, which is a very small field of view, or in other words a large magnification.
Mars is twice as big as the moon (3400 km vs. 1700 km radius), but appears much smaller because it is so much further away.
I processed a realistic and a balanced HDR photo from 6 RAW exposures, manually aligned and stacked them, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

It was a tough one with the fog and clouds! I was glad to snap a few shots of the incredible Moon and Mars conjunction this evening. I live about 80 miles south of the occultation line. At my location, the pair were separated by about 0.01 degrees. A Canon 80D and a Canon 200 mm f/2.8L II lens was used on an iOptron Sky Tracker.
