Beach party in Laguna Beach began directly in my line of vision. Armed with my sketchbook and a few pencils, pastels and erasers, I began an art project. Within a few moments, I had some spectators with broad smiles lighting up their cheerful faces. One young lady, breathing heavily over my rugged shoulder whispered about how nice the sketch was coming along. "Thanks," I responded. "But if you will, take a few pounds off my hips," she requested. "I'm actually on a diet, so give me a free pass on my diet, okay?" I nodded. "Sure, no problem," I smiled and the deed was done.

Each of the more than 200 luncheon diners was presented with this list of the courses to come.

On Sept. 28, 2023, Federal employees from the United States Department of Agriculture got together with other agencies to support the White House Conference on Food, Nutrition and Health to end hunger, improve nutrition and encourage physical activity at the USDA headquarter, Washington D.C. They walked from the headquarter to the Lincoln monument. During the weeks of September 17 through 30, all federal employees nationwide are encouraged to participate in a 30-minute walk, roll or physical activity from their work location or in their local communities.
