This is the window display in an industrial clothes supplier's shop. In real life it looks incredibly terrifying. The dummy on the table has no legs. Yikes!
The decay that devoured this nurses station in a Georgia State Hospital was fairly extensive compared to other sections of the building. The collapsed roof in the top right corner gives me an indication that there is a water leak just above this station, causing the wood to swell and buckle.
if anybody has this Sugarmag set OR wants to make me a custom nurse outfit ... please let me know! Pi really wants it.
I just love these little islands of life loosely known as nurse logs. This one happens to be a stump, but it is a haven for all kinds of living things and clearly this little colony is thriving.

Looking out the window from some place near our local mall, I saw this lovely pink decorated car with yellow flowers. It turns out it is for Nurses on call. What a great idea; sometimes that is the kind of person you may need in an emergency when you cannot get to a clinic or your own doctor or just need some help in the home due to illness.
The trail in Avalanche Valley, in Glacier National Park, Montana, finds its way through an interesting and varied plant community as it ascends upward toward Avalanche Lake.
Near the trailhead, a massive grove of Western Hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla), Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata), and Black Cottonwood (Populus balsamifera) tower over the relatively broad mouth of Avalanche Valley. At the feet of these giant trees, some of which are over 500 years old, small patches of parasitic Indian Pipe (Monotropa uniflora) grew in bizarre pale groupings. The forests on the west side of Glacier represent the eastern-most extent of the Pacific Northwest temperate rainforest ensemble, and are made possible by the high peaks to the east efficiently wringing moisture from clouds traveling from west to east over the Continental Divide.
Further up and closer to the lake, I found these nurse logs, sprouting new life from the stores of nutrients slowly released from the wooden bodies. A young Western Hemlock stakes its future on the gap that opened up after these two nurse individuals toppled. While the individual trees do not move all that much, the forest as a whole is constantly moving to fill gaps, created by fierce winter storms, then changing, and adjusting itself to most efficiently harvest light from any open space in the canopy.

I don't know if you read girls' annuals from the Sixties and Seventies (doesn't everyone?), but they all had stories about children's nurses and the uniform is spot-on.
Whoever woulda known it was International Nurses Day? We just got through Nurses week and I saw a few nurses getting hot dogs. Most of us were to damned busy to go get our free hot dog from administration.
I'm a nurse. Before I was a nurse I was a sailor and a hired gun. I like being a nurse. Marynell is a nurse too. A nurse practitioner actually. She keeps my ticker ticking.
So today after making rounds and doing a few cases we raise our glasses to nurses. They drink free at the Happy Fish.

In the late Autumn of 1952 American tourists jostled for a vantage point to witness the annual migration of nurses from Bruny Island to the mainland.

She and Lucy, as always, took turns being on duty while I was ill. Of course, it's spring, and the wild birds are coming back, meaning tending to a sick human for almost two weeks while trying to ignore the alluring feathered friends flitting about outdoors, easily within view from the window.

A young, moss-covered tree grows out of a fallen log. These nurse logs provide a space above the forest floor for seedling trees to sprout and grow. The spongy tissues of the decaying log provide water as well as nutrition. The young tree sends down roots and eventually makes contact with the soil and is on its own.
It is a common sight to see a row of tall, mature trees that clearly had their mutual origin on top of a nurse log which has long since rotted away.
Photo of nurse shark in Compass Cay, Bahamas. I used DiCAPac WP‑S10 case to take this photo, which I think worked okay for this purpose (under 10ft of water and not submerged under water the entire time).
Joel has been quite sick for the past 2 days...
