I noticed this beautiful-unique clock just outside of Palmer House Hotel in Chicago and had to get a shot of it. Used several apps (Stackables, Enlight to name a few) to obtain this textured look. Hope you like it!
This is the image of the dramatic clouds at sunset with a divine glow making these vaporous formations shine in the darkness. I took this picture at 9:38 pm, very late as you can notice.
It was a very ephemeral moment, and I was really lucky witnessing it from home, looking East.
I hope you like this picture and I wish you a happy day!

After a long day working ... noticed that after two days of 50 MPH and then 30 MPH winds and sunny days, that clouds rolled in as the day was nearing an end and the winds died down to nothing.
Checked the radar and the passing front left behind a band of clouds over the Baltimore region ... and it was slowly dissipating.
I called my Dad about 40 minutes before sunset and asked if the river was smoothed out. He said it was nearly a mirror.
So I grabbed the camera gear and made a quick trip down to Middle River to see if Election Night would have some fireworks.
The conditions were great with the two days of strong winds out of the northwest resulted in a real low tide, so was able to get under some of the piers.
Here just as the sun set, the colors were golden and just beginning. The fireworks followed for about 20 minutes or more, so I ended up taking 75 captures from all kinds of perspectives given the reflections, clouds and low tide conditions.
I noticed today that I have reached the 10k followers. I was speechless :o I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. This picture is a THANK YOU to each and every one of you. I started blogging 5 years ago through a friend. It was a lot of fun for me and when the friend I owe the start of blogging died unfortunately, blogging got another step for me. I took every picture for her. Today blogging is not just a hobby for me, today it is passion. The reason that calms me down from a stressful working day, the reason for conveying feelings in some pictures. That's why I'm so proud that so many like my work. I appreciate all of you so much! ♥♥♥♥
thank you SO SO SOO much :*
There was a marmot out there moving about on those slopes far off that my daughter noticed first. I marked on the photo where it is and if you view large you can make it out.

My first shot of this house was horizontal and I missed focus in a pretty drastic way. I can't remember if I noticed it at the time, but I immediately shot this take on it and moved on.
This entire day was bright and sunny until the end. The storms grew quickly and were some of the most intense I had experienced in a month full of storms.
That night severe storms with countless bolts of lightening and 50mph winds raged through my campsite. I kept an eye on the radar and moved to the car for an hour or so watching my tent trash about.
The storms finally passed, and I returned to the tent, still dry. The same repeated the next day, and the next. It was a week of nightly storm, maybe longer. I just wanted it to stop.
A few days later, it did. The skies cleared and the roads dried and the miles slid away.

Notice the green tinged feather tips on the black crown. This wouldn't be so prominent in a fall adult male. Also in an adult male the black on the throat would reach the bottom of the lower beak, and this bird has some yellow feathering there. A minority of adult females have a rather full hood, and can look similar to males. Notice the beak is more brown in fall birds of this species as opposed to a black bill in spring birds. Many warbler species sport a lighter bill color in the fall.
This young bird is in fresh fall plumage. Adult birds replace all feathers prior to migration, which is a good thing since many are worn from frequent trips thru vegetation to feed young. First fall birds like the one above don't replace wing or tail feathers this first molt, which is not so crucial as the feathers are fairly new anyhow. This partial molt of first fall birds often allows one to see what is called a molt limit. This is perhaps easier to see in birds with wing bars, but the alula, and adjacent primary coverts can give a clue as well. If not sure where the alula and primary coverts are in the image above a quick google search, or a glance at a bird guide should help. You can see how dark the alula and primary coverts are in comparison to the fresh olive plumage directly adjacent and closer to the face.

We noticed a big streak in the otherwise clear sky. Looking closer there was a fast moving plane at the top. The origin was south - far south. Being the southernmost capital city in Australia this seemed unusual. So a quick check of the flight activity identified that the flight was a Qantas scenic Antarctica flight (you can see the Qantas logo clearly on the tail).
Wikipedia: Wat Phra Kaew is one of the oldest and most revered Buddhist temples in Chiang Rai. It is unclear when the temple was founded. The temple was originally called Wat Pa Ya or Wat Pa Yea (Thai: วัดป่าเยี้ยะ, meaning the Temple in the Golden Bamboo Forest), as it was surrounded by a dense yellow bamboo grove locally known as Yeah or Yah. In 1434 the temple's octagonal Chedi (Pagoda) was struck by lightning and it fell apart to reveal a Buddha covered with stucco inside. The Buddha was then placed in the abbot's residence, who later noticed that stucco on the nose had flaked off, revealing a green figure inside. The abbot removed all the stucco and found a Buddha image made of a green semi-precious stone, which became known as Phra Kaew Morakot or the Emerald Buddha. "Emerald" here simply means "green colored" in Thai. The temple has been thus called Wat Phra Kaew after this holy Buddha image ever since.
In 1990, a new Phra Kaew Marakot image was commissioned and carved in China out of Canadian jade in honor of Somdej Phra Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother's ninetieth birthday. The image is an intentionally close but not exact replica of the Phra Kaew Marakot in Bangkok; it is 48.3 cm wide across the lap and at 65.9 cm high, it is just 0.1 cm shorter than the original. The new image is called Phra Yok Chiang Rai (Chiang Rai Jade Buddha) and is housed in Haw Phra Yok. A dedication ceremony was held in Bangkok on 20 September 1991 (B.E. 2534) and the image was installed with a grand procession at Wat Phra Kaew, Chiang Rai on 19 October of the same year.

Have you noticed the dead leaf that seems to fly in the sky among the clouds?

Avez-vous remarqué la feuille morte qui semble voler dans le ciel au milieu des nuages ?
Et quelle meilleure illustration musicale que cette interpération de "Feuilles mortes" par Miles Davis :
As we walked along the beach we noticed the skimmers were getting a little nervous as other people walked nearer to them. They would takeoff and circle around, re-settling a little further up the beach. They did this several times as we observed them, making some great opportunities for in flight shot as they made another pass.
Have a great, blessed and safe weekend!
Thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to view, like or comment on my photos!

building a wall around the beacon of Democracy, targeting people because of their religion and banning them from entering the country, repealing the law that separates church and state, insulting multiple leaders of foreign countries and outright threatening another, all the while beating the drum of nationalism declaring us to be 'the greatest country on Earth'. That is a dark and dangerous path and I'm asking for the entire world to stand up and take notice and help us oust this nutter before irreparable damage is done. The great blue dot in space is a tiny place filled with diversity and we all need one another. this is where I drop the mic, but you can't see it because it's in print...... :-)
on a lighter note, click the link, you'll be glad you did. (your welcome) :-)

Update 9/1/ 17
You will notice that I havent written my usual stuff with this photo. I think its beyond that for me. You would have to go up there and seen it happening to comprehend what it does to your senses. { Er....I changed my mind...again!!! }
I took this photo at dawn from the side of Tonalgee { " Ass to the wind" } Mountain at 600m. A wild, boggy and isolated place but with its own unique beauty which draws some of us crazy people like a magnet!
I think the shape of the light flaring out from the sun behind the ridge line which was changing by the second, is something to behold. I did wonder, as I looked at it if there was a place between the light and the dark where you could stand and. what would it do to your mind.
Then I realised I was standing, up to my knees in freezing bog water and I could hear the red grouse calling out to one another in the darkness and probably saying " Whose yer man with the camera. Bejaysus wouldnt you imagine he`d get sense and go home! { They were Irish red grouses obviously! Lol! } Anyway, I ended up breaking into a fit of laughter at the thought of it so the moment was gone and I got quickly out of there.
Im very pleased with it as I think its very different but my honest friends on Flickr have ways of letting me know whether they like it like I do! Pat.
UPDATE 1/1 2017
AS it is New Year, I just wanted to remember our two good friends that we lost during 2017. Firstly my good friend, the Birdman, Steve-h from Dublin who took such amazing bird studies in St Stephens Green. A master and a true gentlemen who still inspires me and I keep all his wonderful stories with me always! Heres to you Steve!
And secondly but by no means in that order, our larger than life friend Richard Gregory. A wonderful photographer wth a zany sense of humor who took the P out of me constantly and me out of him. How many people can you actually do that with without causing offence? Very few and only those that you truly like and admire. Gone but not forgotten "and no I dont want to hear your latest Irish joke, Richard!! Oh! ok then, seeing as its yerself but Ill get you later!!! "
If you scroll down the page they are both on it here
and with all of us too!

I noticed that over the past weeks, there have been fewer and fewer birds in the backyard, just a handful of Great and Blue Tits and sometimes House Sparrows and ... that's all :-( However, the feeders are full of what is usually appreciated.
◇◇◇
I noticed that all the Rainbow Lorikeets were in my neighbour's garden yesterday afternoon (well I first heard them as the noise is deafening). They were fighting over a loaf that he had put out for them and I love going over and trying for the elusive "in flight" photos. I saw this one take off from a tree and snapped off three quick shots not knowing if it was in the frame or not and lucky for me it was. I just had to lighten a tad with curves in Photoshop.
I noticed that the apparent mother of Aubrey, the rabbit that grew up under my deck, visited him virtually every day when he was young but seemingly earning his own living eating grass. I always thought that the young ones were on their own when they left their siblings and began eating grass.
However, I have noticed that the above mother has been nursing its young bunny in my yard this week despite the fact that the bunny is also eating grass. It is likely that Aubrey's mother was nursing him at this age too, when she visited him regularly. Does this mean that the moms visit all their surviving young throughout the neighbourhood at this stage? If so, that must be hard to manage.

I have noticed in my visits to to other areas or on my walks, the most prominent, dominant and curious bird is the lovely Robin. Even at Jerpoint Abbey where there were plenty of people and other such distractions, there was this noisy, curious robin that was darting around me and either burst into song or stood and gazed at me. Of course I could not resist to take an image or two, of the little one standing on these ancient ruins.
Noticed sort of a weird glow in the sky and had to scoot out to take a look. Was treated to this view over the top of our home. Just paused, took it in and experienced a real sense of awe around the beauty, colors and scene displayed before me. We are blessed to live in such an awesome creation.
I noticed this Praying mantis on the coneflower but it retreated to underneath the blossom before I could get off a good shot. This specimen is less than an inch long (27 mm) long. There are over 20 species native to the USA and some imports.
I noticed this squirrel the day before I took this image swimming but was so surprised that I missed the shot and came back again. Hours later it did the same short swim again and I managed to capture the image. I did not know that Squirrels can swim.

You’ll notice I have been away from Flickr since last Saturday. I’ve been experiencing this latest strain of the flu virus, and it seems to be a particularly bad one this year. I went so many years without so much as a cold, but recently my health problems have been mounting. So much for old age. My eyes have been hyper-sensitive to it as well (following the recent surgery) and it feels like I have shards in them. And of course that’s exactly what these artificial lens are, but I know that when this virus passes I will be back to enjoying reasonable health again.
I took this snap on my phone the other day because I thought it encapsulated the way I was feeling and seeing the world. When the body is out of order everything can seem to fall apart. We just have to remind ourselves that the distortion is the mirror reflection and not the true picture of our world. When we think of sickness often we are referring to disease, and sometimes forget the etymology of that word: dis-ease. We are no longer easy with the world. Things feel fragmented and even out of control. But if we hang in there, it can get better again, and we can see the beautiful things in life once more.
Thank you for your patience. I’ll ease back into Flickr as my health allows.

After dinner I noticed nice red clouds high up in the sky. I grabbed my camera gear and raced to a nearby bridge in Cupertino. The red sky was gone by the time I arrived at the bridge. It's worthwhile sticking around. I love the one-point perspective you get with this bridge. Something Stanley Kubrick was obsessed with, he used it extensively in his films.
