Слона то я и не заметил.

I didn’t even notice the elephant.” This fable was written by Krylov in 1814 under the impression of the story of a provincial about his first visit to the Kunstkamera. The narrator was delighted with the smallest exhibits of the museum, and when asked about the elephant, he scratched his head in puzzlement: "I'm sorry, I didn't notice the elephant."

I noticed this beautiful-unique clock just outside of Palmer House Hotel in Chicago and had to get a shot of it. Used several apps (Stackables, Enlight to name a few) to obtain this textured look. Hope you like it!

Taken on a Valentine's Day in Hamburg, I first noticed the couple sitting in the moving tram on the monitor at home.

On our way back home from our hike I noticed this beautiful white cloud and reflection. Taken from a running car...I was not driving:)

Many thanks to all those who view, fav or comment my pictures. I very much appreciate it.

The sun will guide you, especially if it is painted on the tree. You may not notice at first as I didn't notice. But it is there, just give it a second look. Sometimes it is all about the second look, and the light doesn't always come from the sun on the sky.

Ever noticed how perfectly hosta leaves channel water down to the base of the plant?

Apologies for the deluge of images. Trying to clear up my backlog from 2021. My processing is up to mid August... so there’ll be a few more coming ;-)

Sadly, no recent sighting of this birdie, but it is nice to remember.

Notice also the chipped panel of pavers to the left of the sculpture. Along this bit of pavement, there are several such panels, some in this design, others in parallel lines or parallel squiggles.

Dome of the Central Market

The Central Market is one of the busiest places in the city of Valencia. Hundreds of people enter every day.

Two domes rise majestically above the Market, which no customer can fail to notice, the aforementioned Cotorra and the Fish dome, which crowns the recently restored fishmonger's department, which overflows with remarkably fresh and tasty maritime products.

*Notice their faces*

After the 50 shoots none of them were happy with the results. The hair stylist thought it was the most horrible picture ever. His eyes couldn't look at it anymore. Bryce, however, was the angriest one. Katia has never let him down as now. Katia was truly confused, what was going on? She thought she outdid this ad. What went wrong? No one replied. They were all upset.

Noticed this 7-spot Ladybird in some forget-me-not and thought the blue made for a decent background.

From about 7am there were about 30 Jackdaws making such a noise flying over & around my house. According to my neighbour he could see them trying to chase off a Sparrowhawk that had taken one of the "family". The noise eventually stopped & nearly 2 hours later my husband noticed the Sparrowhawk in our garden devouring the bird.

We could only take photos through the window as we did not wish to scare it away & as we clicked it kept turning its head towards the house looking for the source of the noise. It stayed about 30 mins & then flew off with the remains of breakfast in its claws.

"Have you ever noticed a small patch of clearing amidst a gray overcast? That's known as a "sucker hole."

The general origin of the term is that the tiny area of blue sky tricks some people to think that maybe the skies are going to clear up, only to duped when the hole disappears and the solid overcast returns -- as in Mother Nature going: "Sucker!"

Pilots can sometime report a "sucker hole" as a break in the overcast to fly through, only to have the hole close up before the plane gets there.”

Noticed sort of a weird glow in the sky and had to scoot out to take a look. Was treated to this view over the top of our home. Just paused, took it in and experienced a real sense of awe around the beauty, colors and scene displayed before me. We are blessed to live in such an awesome creation.

TUGBOATS, SEA IMP X towing SEA IMP III

I noticed the operators and deck hands preparing these two tugs to leave the dock. When they finally pulled away Sea IMP III connected to the back of SEA IM X.

My guess might be, they were saving fuel while traveling to their evening work destination,

Both tugs, if you look close, are connected by a tow line, and about to head down the Fraser River.

Mission Train Bridge

Mission

British Columbia, Canada

The Mission Railway Bridge is a Canadian Pacific Railway bridge spanning the Fraser River between Mission, and Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.

Replacing an earlier bridge built in 1891, which was the first and only bridge crossing of the Fraser below Siska in the Fraser Canyon until the construction of the New Westminster rail bridge in 1904, it was constructed in 1909 by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). The Mission Railway Bridge is supported by 13 concrete piers and is approximately 533 metres in length. Before completion of the Mission highway bridge, highway traffic to and from Matsqui and Abbotsford with Mission used the bridge as a one-way alternating route, with traffic lights at either end to control direction. Rail traffic often held up car crossings, causing long and often very lengthy waits, which were a part of daily life in the Central Valley until the new bridge was completed.

Beneath the bridge's north abutment is an important river-level gauge monitored during the annual Fraser freshet. The bridge is also the location of the end of the Fraser's tidal bore - downstream from the bridge the river is increasingly influenced by tidal influences from the Georgia Strait.

Swing span

The Mission Railway Bridge has a swing span which has a vertical clearance of 4.9 metres above the water when closed. The swing span is fitted atop a circular concrete pier, the 10th from the north bank of the river. The 10th pier is protected from shipping traffic by two 46 metre wood piers extending upstream and downstream respectively perpendicular to the bridge which are tapered at both ends. The navigation channel past the bridge is 30 metres in width. At night a fixed white light is displayed on piers 9 and 11 as well as at the up-river and down-river ends of the protection pier.

The majority of marine traffic consists of log tows and gravel barges, which are permitted to use the navigation channel beneath the fixed span between piers 5 and 6. The swing span is used for wood chip barges and other vessels which cannot navigate beneath the span between piers 5 and 6.

CPR maintains a bridge tender 24 hours per day at an office on the north bank of the bridge. Vessels requesting passage through the swing span contact the bridge tender on marine VHF radio, whereby the tender walks the bridge to a control booth situated on the swing span.

She stood for a long moment watching the water, as if waiting for something to emerge from the silence beneath the arches.

The concrete above her repeated itself again and again, a quiet tunnel of light and shadow, while the river moved slowly past. For a moment the world felt ordered—lines, reflections, and a solitary figure standing at the center of it all.

Some places ask nothing of us except that we pause long enough to notice them.

“Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.”

― C.S. Lewis

I think here you can also notice the unusual shape of the beak, hence it being a broadbill.

I have all my photos organized in albums by species and family. However, so far, this is the only member of this family that I have photographed.

In my opinion, the most beautiful one is the black-and-yellow, but to capture it, I need to return to Malaysia and not miss the opportunity.

==================***==================

All my photos are now organized into sets by the country where they were taken, by taxonomic order, by family, by species (often with just one photo for the rarer ones), and by the date they were taken.

So, you may find:

- All the photos for this trip Vietname (2022) (206)

- All the photos for this order PASSERIFORMES (3553)

- All the photos for this family Eurylaimidae (Eurilaimídeos) (6)

- All the photos for this species Serilophus lunatus (6)

- All the photos taken this day 2022/12/12 (31)

I noticed this beautiful ivy clad barn on a walk along the lanes near our holiday cottage in Hereford. I think the plant hugging the gate is honeysuckle but I might be wrong HGGT!

A quick update: Martin is making good progress & was well enough to have chemotherapy today. My heartfelt thanks to all my wonderful friends for your messages of support, prayers & good wishes.
