"I will climb perhaps to no great heights, but I will climb alone"

-- Cyrano de Bergerac

" And I shall have some peace there, For peace comes dropping slow,

Dropping from the veil of morn, To where the cricket sings,

Where midnights all a glimmer, And noon a purple glow,

And evenings filled with linnets wings "

{William Butler Yeats}

This stream comes from a spring that cascades out from under a boulder high up on the ridge in the distance. It plays it own special music as it tumbles down the mountain where it joins many other such streams, eventually forming the great Vartry river which enters the port of Wicklow 20 miles to the south east.

The lone Mountain Ash stands and watches its passing as it has done for so many years.

A wild and a beautiful place.

With a special excursion train in tow, Nickel Plate Road 765 steams through Somme Woods in Northbrook, Illinois. 765 is a 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type steam locomotive built in 1944 by the Lima Locomotive Works. Retired from service in 1958, 765 was restored in 1979 by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society.

At noon, the thin air smeared warm and sultry on the earth already parched with dryness. The hardest task was finding a shadow stamp and a gust of wind...

...

Rediscovered this one last night. Had forgotten about it, though I'm not sure how as I took it on a wonderful walk through a previously unfamiliar part of London (Bermondsey) that also yielded this shot amongst others: flic.kr/p/Jqo72W.

This are just some nice shadows I saw in Luzern at the Vierwaldstättersee around noon. I liked how they lined up almost perfectly. I took this on my small Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ101 at 9.1 mm, f/6.3, 1/800 s, ISO 125.

Gazania flowers (Gazania rigens /Mittagsgold) on the terrace 😄 For a sunny weekend ☀️

They only look like this in the hours around noon, hence the German name 'Mittagsgold' (Midday Gold). The rest of the day the blossoms are closed.

Shot for Our Daily Challenge :“Palindrome”

Drawing a perfect circle in one continuous line was a sign

of mastery. Rembrandt did it in one of his latest self-portraits.

Noguchi however, did the opposite. Read what he wrote

about Sun a Noon.

The assembly technique, no doubt with industrial help, is related

to Noguchi's activity as a designer. Some of his furniture, like

his famous glass coffee table and his paper lanterns, are still in production and very popular.

The Boat House....

This morning the skies were turbulent with thick heavy snow clouds, snow began falling in the early morning hours and persisted throughout the day leaving thick white deep snow everywhere.

just before noon Karen and I headed out to our favorite conservation area to get a few shots.

This shot is of the boathouse at heart lake; the snow was falling so hard you could barely see a few hundred feet, making everything seem to fade into the whiteness.
