We are all comfortable with Relational Databases and translating real word data to rows and columns. Some data does not fill well into this model or is too big. Embracing the new world of BigData non-relational databases, or NoSQL, can seem a little daunting, but not really. All knowledge and technology is additive, we just need a simple way to apply what we already know to the new technologies. NoSQL technologies frequently use APIs, rather than a Query Language to access the database, this can feel like a barrier or a new thing to learn. What if you could generate the NoSQL API from SQL and remove the barrier? You could then choose the appropriate NoSQL technology that meets your use case.

With all the hype and promise of big data, and big data analytics, widespread adoption of the technology in capital markets industry has lagged behind other financial services sectors, and other industries. That is starting to change. In this presentation we will discuss the how capital markets firms are incorporating big data technology and the challenges they face. We will discuss emerging 'design patterns' and concrete use cases supporting them, in credit risk, price discovery, trading with sentiment analytics and other innovative examples. We'll discuss various technology stacks and their advantages, including batch-based processing, real-time analytics, and noSQL systems. Finally we'll take a look into the future and discuss key technology trends affecting big data in capital markets.
