La mariposa NiƱa Celeste integra el linaje Lycaenidae, dentro de la categorĆa de los lepidĆ³pteros. Pertenece al conjunto Lysandra, en la clasificaciĆ³n Bellargus. Este insecto habita con predominancia en la PenĆnsula IbĆ©rica, tanto en la planicie como en los picos de 2000 metros de altura.
Se reconoce al macho al observar el interior azul metalizado de las alas, adornado de una hilera discreta de manchas negras. Por su parte, la hembra tiene tonos acaramelados en el anverso, con sombras naranjas y un vƩrtice axilar celeste, compartiendo los puntos oscuros con el macho. En ambos tambiƩn, la capilaridad del cuerpo es blanca y afelpada, y los ojos son negros.

Un veterano macho de Lysandra bellargus entretenido en las inflorescencias de la lechetrezna comĆŗn (Euphorbia nicaensis) posiblemente sin apercibirse del peligro bajo sus patas: Una pequeƱa cazadora perfectamente camuflada en la flor. Se trata de una Thomisus onustus, especie que como otras del grupo de las āaraƱas cangrejoā tienen la facultad de mimetizarse adoptando los colores de las flores donde estratĆ©gicamente acechan a sus presas, aparte de que al mismo tiempo se protegen engaƱando a sus posibles depredadores. Por cierto, la araƱa parece parasitada por unos Ć”caros rojos.

A veteran male of Lysandra bellargus entertained in the inflorescences of the common lechetrezna (Euphorbia nicaensis) possibly without noticing the danger under his legs: A small hunter perfectly camouflaged in the flower. It is a Thomisus onustus, a species that like others in the group of ācrab spidersā have the power to mimic themselves by adopting the colors of the flowers where they strategically stalk their prey, apart from that at the same time they protect themselves by deceiving their possible predators. By the way, the spider seems parasitized by for some red mites.

Un vĆ©tĆ©ran de Lysandra bellargus se divertit dans les inflorescences de l'asclĆ©piade commune (Euphorbia nicaensis) sans peut-ĆŖtre remarquer le danger sous ses jambes: une petite chasseur parfaitement camouflĆ©e dans la fleur. C'est un Thomisus onustus, une espĆØce qui, comme d'autres dans le groupe des "araignĆ©es crabes", a le pouvoir de se mimer en adoptant les couleurs des fleurs oĆ¹ elles traquent stratĆ©giquement leurs proies, Ć part cela en mĆŖme temps elles se protĆØgent en trompant leurs Ć©ventuels prĆ©dateurs. Au fait, l'araignĆ©e semble parasitĆ©e pour certains acariens rouges.

This is my favorite shot of Nina. Her sister was allowed to play in the water (background). Nina kept asking mom if she could go in the water, but was getting shot down because she was required to be photographed. She gave me this idea of a shot because of constant refusal. The face she was able to come up with is priceless. If only she could sprout a tear.
