This adorable Jian pup and I decided to brave the wintery weather that has been taking SL hostage seemingly overnight, and go exploring! I live in the southern US. There is no snow here! I am not joking when I say that maybe...maybe...once every decade or so, we will get about a fourth of an inch of snow, and it is as if martians had landed when that happens, as it is so fascinating and novel to us!! lol Don't get me wrong, I have seen lots of snow...I do get out and travel and such, but I don't see it outside the door of my own house!
Newfie said that he was fine with snow...I glanced at his dense, luxurious coat, and then at my ill put together black lacy top and shorts and was thankful that this was only pixel snow, or I would have surely perished! Thank Heavens as well for the sustenance of cinnamon rolls! :) Happy Sunday to everyone! ♥

OK, so I made her look like a giant as an adult..hehe, just trying to fit her 10 week self into the scene.
Ember ended up as a 100 lb girl. Here she is in her Spring shed.
Her ear took about 6 years to stand up fully. It is fun to see how the face and body pattern changes on a Malamute from baby to adult.
Ember was with us for about 10 years. She blew out her knee. The operation failed and her other knee sometime later blew out as well.
Ember was a difficult girl, a bully to our then Shep/Newfie mix. But we loved her dearly anyway.

Although posted before, this is one of my favorite Newfie images. It was taken at Seal Cove on July 27, 1984. Seal Cove –– on the main line –– is on the south shore of Conception Bay on the St. John's Subdivision. Bell Island is visible across the bay. The train is No. 207, the Argentia mixed, consisting of a baggage car, coach, and coach caboose this day. The train appears to be coming out of the water as it travels west. No. 207 will curve onto the Argentia Sub at Placentia Junction, west of Whitbourne. Two months later, the train was discontinued.
An eastbound extra freight rounds the curve around Conception Bay at Holyrood, Newfoundland, on August 26, 1977. In a decade, Newfoundland's railroad would be history.

Bonavista mixed train No. 205 originated on the morning of July 30, 1980, at Clarenville, Newfoundland. Later in the day, it is shown approaching the "Trinity Loop" at Trinity Junction. The lower track loops around a lake and then climbs over itself. This train ran only on Wednesdays until it was discontinued in November 1983.

FCAB train 201 begins its assault of the Cumbre Loops with an ex-CN NF210 leader. The 1420 is the was built as Canadian National #915 in 8-'56, and was sold to the FCAB when the Newfoundland rail network was abandoned in 1988. It is also the only Newfie on the roster in the modern 'Grey' scheme. The 201 is a reliable morning run through the Loops and typically features either legacy power or modern GE C23 pairs
A friendly Newfie fisherman took my wife and I out in his Dory to get a closer look at the Iceberg.
I was able to touch the ice, and it was very cold!
