Another New Year's Resolution suggestion. "I promise to reach out to someone I have not in a long time." Tell them you have been thinking of them and wish them well. You might be surprised what a small gesture of kindness can do to brighten someone's day.
1. I promise to do one nice thing for a person each day.
2. I promise to reach out to someone I have not in a long time.

Another New Year has arrived. It felt like a blink of an eye to me. It is amazing how fast it goes now that I am older. I recall when I was a child, time seemed to stand still. I was constantly waiting for something. Waiting for the summer, waiting to grow up, waiting for Christmas or my birthday. Childhood was a waiting game in which moved at a speed unnoticed. Why is it when we become an adult, all that waiting seems to fly on swift wings?

Another New Year's Resolution suggestion. "I promise to always follow my heart, no matter where it might lead me."
What better resolution is there than that? Our heart is filled with an infinite amount of compassion and love. Let God speak to you in the silence of your heart. If you should hear His voice today, harden not your heart. Thy will be done.

3. I promise to spend time being inspired by music and letting it move me into a better relationship with a friend.
4. I promise to always follow my heart, no matter where it might lead me.

Another New Year's Resolution suggestion. "I promise to spend time being inspired by music and letting it move me into a better relationship with a friend."
Music can be a powerful thing. It can transform us. It is the universal language that we can all understand and that is what makes it so very special. You would be surprised how listening to music with someone can grow a bond.
For me, listening to music with loved ones is deep rooted. Putting on records for my grandma and sitting quietly together, holding hands and smiling at each other as we listened intently was some of my fondest memories of time spent with her.
Imagine what it can do for you. You're on a road trip with someone who you don't know how to talk to. You hear a song you both like and suddenly you both are singing the lyrics out loud. This act breaks the awkward silence and gives you both common ground. :) Think about the possibilities music can add to your life. They are infinite. Happy listening!

Austria series: Diet? Are you nuts?!
Happy New Year everyone! 🍀
What about your New Year's resolutions?
I decided to have only one: Do more of the things that make me happy!
🇩🇪 Frohes Neues Jahr! 🍀
Wie sieht es mit euren guten Vorsätzen für 2023 aus?
Ich persönlich habe mir nur eine Sache vorgenommen: Mehr Zeit mit dem zu verbringen, das mich glücklich macht.
Having suddenly a wealth of images of rubber ducks both big and very small this will be the first image in a small series.
Friends, I have not been here since the middle of July 2021.
This is the last photo I took - on the morning of 19th July - in unusually clear still Pembrokeshire sea.
By the end of that day, life had irrevocably altered, with the news that my eldest son was incurably ill and had only a few days more to live.
He died at a few minutes before midnight on 30th July, and I have felt as if I have been drowning ever since.
I need to surface and take a breath. In 2022, I am determined to take and post photos, and get back to interacting with people.
That is my new year resolution. I don't feel very sure of being able to keep it, but I intend to try my hardest.
Edit 3.1.22: Many thanks everyone for the views, comments and for explore (especially for the comments).
Literally!!!

"New year resolution”
Radisson, Peter St, Manchester
Having struggled with Elements 12 for god knows how many years and only upgrading to Photoshop CC late last year I thought it was about time that I tried to get to grips with it properly as most of my uploads follow the same tried and trusted process flow.
So one of my many 2018 New Year resolutions is to try new things and see where it takes me. I'm not tying myself down to a 365 or a 52 week project but will post images in the hope of some good tips from you all. So here's my first attempt... I don't know if this is colour popping or selective colouring but it was far easier than I thought although I'll have to go back to the videos and make notes as I've a memory like a sieve or is it a goldfish... see I've forgotten already!
About the picture, we were just on our way for coffee and cake when Mrs R spotted this pink taxi... that's a bit different! Out came the camera and no sooner had I taken the first shot the taxi driver spotted me and wound his window up and turned his back on me... must be shy I thought! I rushed off to catch up with Mrs R who was on a mission to find the biggest cake, but checking my framing in the rear screen I wasn't happy with the symmetry (you know me) so went back for another go. Oh boy, was that taxi driver unhappy with me... he got out of his cab, shouted something, waved his hand in an ungentlemanly manner and stormed off to the pavement - that's him on the left.
Well... if you want to go unnoticed... don't paint yer cab pink!
For the Macro Mondays group theme "New Year's resolutions"...
Okay, so I cheated a bit with this: the photo didn't come out as I'd hoped, so rather than waste it, I gave it a tweak or two in Picnik!
In 2015 I will exercise great care when photographing wildlife. Especially where stealth deer are concerned.

Another rainbow of colours for today, slightly less vibrant than the pencils though, but more appetising, I think!
Guess who went shopping today! In hindsight, i think the butternut squash, although orange, would probably have went better at the left hand end....
Happy New Year! One resolution I have for 2025 is to focus on health. Among other things that includes focus on building muscle mass. I've been going to the gym and doing weight training at home with dumbbells. "Lift Heavy" and eats lots of protein!
Wish you all a year full of new hopes together with the strength to hold them firm!
My new year resolutions are "bite only what's edible" and "find god destiny"
Thank you all for your support and love, my dear flickr friends.

Founded in 1925 by the inventor of the double-action rotary shock absorber, this facility operated for 75 years & went on to also manufacturer auto parts, machine tools & other steel products before moving to Ft. Lauderdale in 1977. The plant was later occupied by a manufacturer of high quality viscous harmonic dampers used to reduce harmful vibrations in your engine through the mid 1990's. In the late 90's soil treatment commenced & the solvent levels in the surrounding areas decreased however with solvents still present, routine groundwater monitoring was required. Throughout the 2000's various testing & cleanups were performed including the removal of asbestos, PCB containing light ballasts & contaminated floor sweepings. As of August 2014 the building was to be sold to a redevelopment corporation & further cleaned up to be sold.
Organic is the way to go, so Woody started to work early to have a nice crop!!! He'll definitely eat better in 2009, besides he is also getting some "extra" exercise!!!

Primary Colours in the Gym
Limbering up for my New Year Resolution. I'm a sucker for finding red, blue and yellow together so couldn't believe my luck when I went to the Gym this morning and found this.
It's a sign I was meant to go there after all!!!!

same as every year for many people, loose weight, do some more sports, ….
What ever, instead of staying at home, comfortable warm, dry, food, Internet, out in the fog, cold windy day and some movement and even some stretching and jumping, the good old Turnvater Jahn
And then one more, no more 365 project this year. 52 is enough of an challange.
St John's College, University of Cambridge. What good is a head without a body (or vice versa)? No good at all. Is a "no body" head a nobody? Surely, not. Would any body do? Nobody's perfect! Get your body in shape... time for some early New Year Resolutions:-)
New Year's Resolution: Evilmommy wants to lose 10 lbs; Gracie has informed me she won't have any resolutions for '09; her words? "Why?, I'm perfect."
Random fact: I don't actually use a scale - I got this for my daughter, who requested it. I go by how my clothes fit; if they are tight, I declare they have shrunk. If they are loose, I've lost weight. Denial? nah.

New Year, new you? Go on, make a few New Year photography resolutions, or have goals or targets. Share yours as you may inspire others.
This year I will...
- Continue (long-term) with my CamDiary Cambridge project and upload at least one photo a day here on Flickr.
- Continue (short-term) with the sunrise and sunset work.
- Try to get back to portrait stories.
And do whatever I fancy as the year goes on! And have a lot of fun!
Some people go for a 365 project (great idea), go on a course, try group photo walks, work on a particular style, improve editing skills... JUST DO IT:-)
Resolution 1 - To eat fruit.
Here's the deal.. I don't eat fruit. At all. So my first New Year's resolution would be to try to eat fruit.. For a start, perhaps I'll have a glass of orange juice.. :)
I can so easily spend time and energy on things, that I know by heart will lead me nowhere, but to end up exhausted, anxious and disappointed. Still I do not listen to myself... I keep fooling myself with, "it's because of my goodwill I do it. To satisfy others..." and so on.
Only those 'others' doesn't give a damn and I know it... So, it just has to stop!
It's my promise to myself, that I will stay true to myself and only put my love, passion and energy on people, or projects, that really matters. No more energy-thieves allowed!
Let the mask fall and stay true to myself and others.
This kind of love, regardless and only:
"You owe me nothing for giving the love that I give
You owe me nothing for caring the way that I have
I give you thanks for receiving it's my privilege
And you owe me nothing in return" /Alanis Morissette

TAKE TIME to think;
it is the source of power.
TAKE TIME to read;
it is the foundation of wisdom.
TAKE TIME to play;
it is the secret of staying young.
TAKE TIME to be quiet;
it is the moment to seek God.
TAKE TIME to be aware;
it is the opportunity to help others.
TAKE TIME to love and be loved;
it is God's greatest gift.
TAKE TIME to laugh;
it is the music of the soul.
TAKE TIME to be friendly;
it is the road to happiness.
TAKE TIME to dream;
it is what the future is made of.
TAKE TIME to pray;
it is the greatest power on earth.

Woody Guthrie Nails Down New Year's Resolutions!
Exactly 81 years ago today, American folk legend Woody Guthrie (1912 – 1967) wrote in his journal a list of 33 tasks he would dedicate himself to in 1943.
At age 31, he was in the prime of his life, with a wife (Mary, although they had been divorced a few years earlier) and three kids (Gwendolyn, Sue, and Bill). He also had a good deal of life experience, having survived a couple of home fires, and the early death of his mom from Huntington Disease. He also navigated the Dust Bowl and made it out to California.
All of this and more resulted in a darn good list…

Not too late for New Year Resolutions, is it?
All these words relate to a goal, or a target I'd like to reach in 2011. There's no 'friends' or 'travel' there, which where the two words I desperately wanted to get there, but all the others hopefully make sense...and if they don't, well, maybe that's on purpose!
Happy New Year, everyone. I'm sorry that I'm late. It's been a tricky end to the year, and an awkward Christmas. Nevertheless, 2011 means bigger and better things, and I am on my way towards them!
Missed you lot! x
Included in TOTW's peices of me week - these really are peices of me.
explored the fickle donkey hasn't given me an explore since December 2009! Thanks peeps!
I was testing the front-facing iPhone camera and realized that the only person in front of this camera is me. I don't know why I was surprised. The camera is really low resolution and is not meant for photos. I am not sure if I am going to use it for anything, really. Slightly accusing look is due to the general dislike of being photographed. Of course, in this case no one was forcing me, so I have no idea whom I am mad at. Also it is the morning after New Year's celebration and I need an aspirin!
Anyhow...I thought over-processed selfies of questionable quality are cliche enough...so are New Year resolutions!. HCS and Happy 2011, you guys!
One more is in the comments. Oh, and I saw Cliche Saturday Scavenger Hunt categories only after I took this shot. I think I'll add it to "out of your comfort zone" thread. Because selfies are definitely NOT my comfort zone.
Yuki joins Makoto on the sofa. A conversation of questions ensues.

Makoto: “What’s that paper?”
Yuki: “Are you ready for this list of new year’s resolutions?”
Makoto: “You made a list of resolutions? Are you feeling okay?”
Yuki: “You want to hear them?”
Makoto: “What have you got?”
Yuki: “You know how slacking around all the time is bad?”
Makoto: “Are you saying the slacking is going to stop?”
Yuki: “You know how bad junk food is?”
Makoto: “No more junk food?!? Who ARE you?”
Yuki: “You know how regular exercise makes you healthier?”
Makoto: “Are you really going to give up slacking and junk food and start exercising?”
Yuki: “What do you mean? Don’t you know this is a list of YOUR resolutions for next year?”
