Interested in local history, Paul Horne has mostly lived in and around Ipswich having worked for BT and SCC. He has been taking photos of the town with the array of changes across the place for over twenty years. The titles of the images are his, unedited and are mostly self-explanatory.

Launched in November 2005 developers made the first steps to winning approval for a massive project which would dramatically add to the skyline of Ipswich's Waterfront.
That year saw a London-based company reveal its big plans for the Ipswich Waterfront, with a £130million development. The thirteen storey Freedom Point development featured at the centre of its proposals, with a Casino originally in its plans!
This development would also incorporate over three hundred luxury apartments, a 120-bedroom hotel, a fitness club, shops and restaurants with a huge multi-storey car park.
Had it been given the go-ahead Freedom Point would have become one of the Waterfront's biggest developments next to the recently completed Neptune Marina by the water's edge.
The site remains a car park today (June 2025)
John Norman kept the image as a reminder of the possibilities on the waterfront.
Before the land was cleared for the Village at Chapel Hill, I visited some recently destoryed houses to inspect the damage. Upon the fallen walls and debris, I came across an interesting site that was ironic. Looking down I saw broken glass and leaves which tended to blend in with each other.

Upon my arrival at the site, the first scene I saw was this bulldozer atop the hill. It was kind of a haunting picture with these lone figures below an open sky.
The sun was driving toward the horizon as I stood atop of the freshly cleared where another distribution center was going to be built. During my walkaround I discovered this shoe that may have belonged to a child at one time. Among the dirt and machinery, it was odd finding a shoe in the absent of a forest.
