Colorful algae thrive in a man made geyser in northern Nevada. Climate change is also threatening this natural wonder. Then this landscape photography will no longer be a celebration of natural beauty but part of a documentary of destruction.

Sierra Nevada, also called Sierra Nevadas, major mountain range of western North America, running along the eastern edge of the U.S. state of California. Its great mass lies between the large Central Valley depression to the west and the Basin and Range Province to the east. Extending more than 250 miles (400 kilometres) northward from the Mojave Desert to the Cascade Range of northern California and Oregon, the Sierra Nevada varies from about 80 miles wide at Lake Tahoe to about 50 miles wide in the south. Its magnificent skyline and spectacular landscapes make it one of the most beautiful physical features of the United States. Biologically, it is home to the largest trees in the world—the giant sequoias. As a recreation centre, its year-round facilities prove a magnet to the inhabitants of the huge urban areas of California, and it has considerable importance as a source of power and water. It was the focus of the celebrated California gold rush.

Resulta curioso y atractivo ir a fotografiar el otoño y encontrarse con una ligera nevada

California’s majestic and amazing Sierra Nevada Mountain Range which literally translated means snow covered mountains that for many would be gold prospector coming from back east was the last big obstacle to reach California Gold Country. My damsel and I venture up in elevation as while we were pelted by the atmospheric river in higher elevations that precipitation became snow. Here is one of the images I captured on that afternoon excursion. - [x] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @kehcamera @mpbcom @visitcalifornia @visitnevadacity @nevadacountyca #omd #microfourthirds #micro43

We found this little side road off of NorthShore Road. It would have been great if we had a 4x4 to expore a little further.

Lake Mead is the largest reservoir in the United States, measured by water capacity.
The reservoir serves water to the states of Arizona, Nevada and California, providing sustenance to nearly 20 million people and large areas of farmland.
Lake Mead receives the majority of its water from snow melt in the Colorado, Wyoming and Utah Rocky Mountains.
At lower water levels, a high water mark or "bathtub ring" is visible in photos that show the shoreline of Lake Mead. The bathtub ring is white because of the deposition of minerals on previously submerged surfaces.
The lowest water levels each year are usually reached in late June or July, after water managers have released the yearly allotment of water for farmers and other cities farther down the Colorado River watershed.
