Τhe Neptune Fountain, also known in Italian as the Fontana del Nettuno, sits at the northern end of Piazza Navona, on the opposite side of the Fontana del Moro.
The monumental complex was designed in 1574 by Giacomo della Porta, who had also designed the basin of the Fontana del Moro. The work was sponsored by Pope Gregory XIII.

Another throwback shot. This was in preparation for a show I was in by the incredible Deyna Marie Howlett-Bade.
A great walk in a fantastic wind across the wet strand of Grenitote. These great shapes took my eye, and Neptune's net by M Ward sounds perfect
I know, since the sad sad loss of Pluto we have all been mourning, terribly. even though Pluto is ok and unchanged, it has lost its status as a planet. this has nearly devastated everyone.
this humble post is an effort to uplift ?or maybe down lift ? i forget which, enjoy!
this is a bit tricky as the music is not on youtube. its the 12th one down.
the music: Scott Lawlor - Dreaming of Neptune
Waterscape #2 of 100 for 2025.
The seaweed in this rockpool, Hormosira, is commonly known as Neptune's necklace, Neptune's pearls, sea grapes, or bubbleweed. It is native to Australia and New Zealand. It is everywhere on our stretch of coast. Apparently it outcompetes other algal species due to its high tolerance to desiccation.
It kind of reminds me of the red weed in War of the Worlds. Except it isn't red. And it isn't Martian. And it isn't fertilised with human blood. It is weed though!
Have a great week out there.
Thanks for all the kind comments , they are always greatly appreciated.
The favorite of all my tree friends; the magical Neptune. Many evenings have been spent with him by Lake Lawtonka, watching the sun setting into a Neptune Sky...
Beautiful drainage patterns swept me down the beach at Church Cove on the Lizard. A hazy sun shone as the rollers crash don the cliffs. Another empty beach , Neptune's net by M Ward is fine.
Large, opulent fountain built in 1776 featuring marble sculptures grouped around a Neptune figure. The artist was Johann Ferdinand von Hohenberg in the Schönbrunn gardens, Vienna
Built in 1893 and unveiled by the then Mayoress Mrs J. C. Griffith, the Neptune Fountain is an impressive expression of design, fashioned from Portland Stone by Joseph Hall. The designer employed the services of local company – Boulton & Sons – to fabricate the piece. One of the most iconic landmarks in Cheltenham, it has been suggested that the artists took inspiration from the Trevi Fountain in Rome.

Entrance to the electrical room of the 1913-1928 Amsterdam Scheepvaarthuis (Shipping House).
The Shipping House is one of the top 100 Dutch heritage sites and generally regarded as the first true example of the Amsterdam School, a style characterised by "expressive dynamism, lavish ornamentation and colourful embellishments". Originally, it was the headquarters of six leading Amsterdam shipping companies. It is now in use as a hotel.
