One of the most sacred Hindu temples of Nepal – Pashupatinath Temple is located on both banks of Bagmati River on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu.
Pashupatinath is the most important temple dedicated to god Shiva. Every year this temple attracts hundreds of elderly followers of Hinduism.
They arrive here to find shelter for the last several weeks of their lives, to meet death, be cremated on the banks of the river and travel their last journey with the waters of the sacred river Bagmati, which later meets the holy river Ganges. Hinduists from every corner of Nepal and India are arriving here to die.
It is believed that those who die in Pashupatinath Temple are reborn as a human, regardless of any misconduct that could worsen their karma. The exact day of their death is predicted by astrologers of the temple. If you are attracted to the places where the spirit of death can be felt, then consider Pashupatinath as your first destination. It is a temple with special atmosphere of death; death is present in almost every ritual and every corner of it.

The Nepal Himalaya Pavilion was set up at the Expo 2000 in Hanover. At the end of the exhibition the producer Heribert Wirth bought for him and let him build faithfully in the oberpfälzischen Wiesent (Bavaria).

For us in the wealthy nations, we can pay for Nepalese porters to carry our loads, and they earn less in a year than I carried in my pocket. If the country introduces more regulations, as with all regulated activities there will be costs, both financial and ethical. The tragedy in Nepal could have easily been avoided with a simple weather warning, but it remains a fact that porters will have died due to inadequate training and equipment. They are wonderful people who work to provide education and basics for their families and deserve everything they are paid and more. We could not enjoy these wonderful places without them

Kyanjin Gompa, Nepal is one of the cooler villages we’ve stayed in while trekking. Usually, the only thing to do is rest after a long day of walking, but in Kyanjin there are tons of great things to do and lots of side treks to choose from depending on the difficulty level you’d like. From technical peak climbing to short walks, there’s something for everyone. And, did I mention the yak cheese? Even the food here is unique with its own specialty items.Trekking began in the area about 60 years ago (circa 1961) with camping. Later, around 1981, the first tea houses were built. The owner of the Panorama Hotel told us how he had a hotel in the village Lama Hotel in 1988 and back then dal bhat cost only 27 rupees (about 25 cents). In order to get yak milk to the villages, they would transport it in yak intestines because they had no jars or bags at the time. It was fun listening to his stories of what life was like back then. The name Kyanjin comes from a local myth that Kyanjin Gompa (monastery) was built on a rock that looked like camel ribs. Kyan means “camel” and jin means “ribs.” It’s believed that the Gompa is about 280-300 years old. The people who live in this area are Tibetan and came over from Tibet years earlier. Gang Chhenpo 6387
