There's a wonderful variety of shape and colour in shells and I particularly love the 'pearlised ' ones . This one has been half - cut and I also have a fully sliced one.
I played around with the exposure dial on my camera and vibrancy in post processing.
Sometimes I can spend so much time trying out different things that I end up confused and not able to make a decision ...
so - making a mental note to stop giving myself more work than I need - especially in this awful relentless heat - daft 'apeth !

Struggled a little with this theme, my usual ‘go to’ are springs, but I’ve shot them multiple time for MM. Luckily we had a handy pot of sea shells bought last year, again this was meant to be a high key shot, but got lured to the dark side as this seemed to capture the form of the shell.

I miss the coast so much, these mornings where a low bank of thin mist gives the cliff line an ethereal light. It doesn't normally last long as the sun burns it off, but for those few minutes it's like being in a perfect honey world. Nautilus is a suitably ethereal song by B Bumble and the Stingers. It's got the bee honey link and was also the first song name i spotted when I opened my playlist. It's be a good one to cook breakfast to :)) Stay safe and well everyone, Paul;)
I've been wanting a 'skeletonised' nautilus shell for ages, but because they are quite expensive to buy I couldn't seem to justify getting one.
I think my generation have a different mind-set on these things! Anyway- I'm glad I changed my mind and ordered one cos it's lifted my spirits no end ....
In spite of having another migraine today, I'm risking making it worse by having a go with my camera being 'arty' with post processing.
There are several that I like, so I'll be posting again ....
At the risk of boring everyone with the same subject, I'm posting another couple of pics of the skeletonised nautilus.
For this one I placed it on some orange cellophane and did a bit of cropping - wanted to use the shell as more of a design element ...
The Nautilus is a lovely shell like rock structure. Many of the other sandstone formations in the area are red, orange or yellow but this formation is in the Page sandstone layer which is mostly white or grey. While not large, it is like a twisting cave.
