This is a closer view of the previous photo, the Cappella degli Alpini, a little church which rises under the three peaks of Lavaredo. The most spectacular thing, was this fantastic rainbow behind of it. I just had the time to screw in the 200mm to take a short series of shots, that it disappeared as quick as it appeared, meanwhile the wheather changed five times! What luck! What a surprise!

Questo è l''abitato storico principale che occupa quasi interamente il promontorio sul mare di fronte a Oneglia (in dialetto Pařàxu, dal Palatium, un antico torrione quadrato usato come fortezza e come carcere - al suo posto, sulla sommità del promontorio, c'è ora una piazzetta alberata.
Il quartiere, ancora oggi quasi completamente pedonale e con i caratteristici carùggi (vicoli) che intrecciano la strada principale che sale a spirale fino alla cima, era cinto di mura, dal Medioevo in avanti abbattute e ricostruite più esternamente per poter difendere e contenere l'abitato in crescita e poterle adeguare alle diverse tecniche militari. In particolare, il tessuto urbano è costituito da ellissi concentriche che seguono le curve di livello del terreno, collegate da scalinate trasversali secondo un impianto urbano a schema tipicamente strategico-difensivo.
Vale il detour se passate da quelle parti (vedere cartina).

Lagoa das Sete Cidades is a twin lake situated in the crater of a dormant volcano on the Island of São Miguel in the archipelago of the Azores, Portugal. This large caldera formed two lakes that are ecologically different, connected by a narrow strait, which is crossed by a bridge.
The deepest part reaches the 30 meters, and is the island most important fresh water supply.
Early morning in the dark, getting to Cavell Road - Mount Edith Cavell area. Driving the 14-km road, which is narrow and has tight switchbacks that are unsuitable for trailers and large motorhomes (eighteen bends in 180-degree 😉). Arrived the parking lot in the middle of the mountains, no cars there at all. The hiking to the glaciers at its head was not so difficult, too quiet in the early morning, bells was not enough to scare the bears away, putting on the apple music on loudly while hiking. The views of the lush Astoria Valley along Mt. Edith Cavell and Sorrow Peak were spectacular in the early morning light.

Vista panoràmica (i ennuvolada) de la part alta de la Vall Ferrera, al Pallars Sobirà. A la esquerra la Vall Ferrera propiament dita continua vers Àreu i fins els peus de la Pica d'Estats, i a l'esquerra comença la molt més estreta i salvatge vall de Tor, que amb grans dificultats porta fins Andorra.
Aquesta darrera vaig agafar, ara que el camí fins poc abans de Tor està encimentat, tot i que continua essent rabiosament estret!

To the left, the proper Vall Ferrera towards the beautiful village of Àreu, and to the right the wild Tor valley, narrow as few, with it's now metalled road towards the tiny village of Tor, my objective in this cloudy morning of July.
This photo was made under the motorway (A3) bridge over the river Danube near Kiefenholz. The bridge was built between 1977 and 1979, but needs a refurbishment during the next years.
At the end of Loch Muick we cross this narrow bridge spanning the water that lets out from the Loch. We're heading to the far end of the Loch before we start a lengthy ascent to Dubh Loch.
This wonderful Ash tree is beside a country road near Oakley in Hampshire. It shows how unused the road is that the branches hang over the narrow road. Lovely to find silhouetted against a winter blue sky.

This is typical of the streets in Skiathos Town. A steep, stepped cobbled street with the beautiful white sugar cube buildings on all sides.

Happy Fence Friday
Capture taken at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison from the north rim. This view shows the cars at a pullout on the south rim with the overlook (and fence). The canyon is around 2,800 feet deep, with near vertical walls that width is not a lot.
The views from the north rim allow better sighting of the Gunnison River below as well.
