I took an afternoon out to finally make it up to Upper-Teesdale. Cauldron Snout has been on the list for a long time!
I used a combination of an ND Grad 0.9 and 10 stop filter.

Can you guess what I think of when I see the abbreviation ND? ;) Well neutral density filters of course, because I’m pretty much obsessed with photography. You must be too, right? We all are, I think. It’s such a wonderful thing to be passionate about though. It’s relatively harmless...
This is the third photo in a series from my rainy day outing last weekend. Two more to go! Tomorrow’s image is a gate/fence, which is why I’m going all wild here and posting two photos in one day. 🎇

Polarizing and ND 2 step filters are used. Next time I try Polarizing + ND 6 step + focusing stack, for better water reflection.

'Roid Week 2010 - Day 1
Taken on the way to Red Wing, MN. I used a hand-cut circular nd filter to create the darkened clouds and the holga-esque look.

A westbound Erie Lackawanna train bangs across the Penn Central (nee-NYC, nee-CI&S, nee-IH RR) diamond at PC's "ND" tower in Highland, Indiana in February of 1976 with EL 2413-2514, Don Ellison photo. This view is looking S/E next to the EL westbound track. Bridge in the distance is Ridge Road. In a few months, the Penn Central would be Conrail, the Erie would be disappearing and ND would no longer have anything to protect. Nowadays, the NS owns the old Egyptian line and not much runs on it anymore. ND was another favorite tower of mine as my 2nd and 3rd favorite RR's crossed here, and soon the Milwaukee Road, my favorite RR would also be coming through here.
EL C424 #2413 was built by ALCO in June of 1963 and would become CR #2487 until March of 1978 where it was scrapped at the Juniata shops in Altoona, PA.
EL U25B #2514 was built by GE in July of 1965 and became CR #2583 and was scrapped at Erie, PA in May of 1984.

A Classic, not only the location, Utakleiv, but also forgetting to change the ISO after a night spent shooting the Northern Lights...hence the ISO 1250 .
Taken with a Lee 0.6 Soft Grad and a 0.9 ND filter (probably not needed if I had the ISO in check..)
With low lying fog and wildflowers not quite in bloom I felt fortunate enough to get a sunset to shoot. With the small gap on the horizon that allowed the sun to burst through, I chose to go super LE to bring out as much as I could.
I used my CPL and 10 stop ND filter.
This image was taken last Sunday evening of the sunset over Langstone Harbour, Hayling Island.
I arranged to meet with local photographer, Dawn (www.flickr.com/photos/133381514@N05/) who wanted some tips to help improve her sunset shots. After a couple of hours discussing camera settings, composition and the use of ND filters and sinking in the wet mud I was pleased to see Dawn had taken some great shots!

Since getting my new camera recently I had been aching to shoot a landscape. I had been shooting like a madman but not landscapes. Not sure why. Just busy I suppose and I have been learning a lot about flash lighting, portraiture, etc. So some weeks ago my buddy Hector and I decided we should go hit up Corona Del Mar and see if we can't get a good sunset. Unfortunately it became quite cloudy. Nevertheless I shot and luckily we got some color and nice comps. I know my posting has been sporadic lately at best but I am still trying to recover all my photos off of my hard drives that failed.
Please, if you mark it as a favorite, take a moment to comment on it as well.

CSX G691 continues east past the abandoned shell of ND Cabin in Lynchburg. At one time, the N&W's old main line, later passenger main, crossed the C&O here. This line was abandoned as a through route in 1964, and the diamond over the CSX was removed in the late 1980s when the last local customers dried up. The left-most main here is still used by Norfolk Southern to interchange with CSX, extending from Montview Yard to this location.

This is a combination of 49 images combined in GIMP as layers each with 5% opacity resulting in a final image that simulates what a long exposure with an ND filter would produce.
This is the original sky. It was not replaced. The light was wonderful on this autumn day. I used a ND filter on my lens.
At the time, I was wishing more of the foliage had turned color when we were there, but looking at this image now, I love how it looked. If you look closely you will see a little color mixed in with the blue mountains.
During wet weather, Glassmine falls plummet down the face of Horse Range Ridge. Mica was once mined near the falls and was referred to as glass by the locals, hence the name. I'm at the OVERLOOK, but my camera was pointed to the beautiful mountain's view (Black Mountain). I have other images of the OVERLOOK to the mica mine and waterfall area.
