Delta Air Lines Boeing 747-400 was departing from the runway 07R.

After the merger, this jumbo continued on with Delta Air Lines until it was withdrawn from use and stored in Marana (MZJ) in October 2014.

The flight pictured here was Northwest's daily NRT-HKG-NRT service that Delta inherited after the merger. Delta then made the decision to suspend the Tokyo route in 2014.

February 2015. N770BA Boeing 747-8 freighter originally built in 2011 for Atlas Air (Global Supply Systems) but not delivered. She was painted in a special Seattle Seahawks livery from January to may 2014. This frame has been used for various tests between 2013 and 2014.

N770BA positioned to Everett in Feb 2017 in prep for Qatar Airways service as A7-BGA.

N672US was built in 1999 for Northwest Airlines, she has previously been to Pinal for short term storage back in 2006.

UPDATE: This 747 flew its last Delta flight on Sept. 30, 2014 (Flight 239, Amsterdam-Atlanta). It was flown to Pinal Airpark in Arizona for storage on 10/1/14.

This ex-Northwest aircraft is departing Los Angeles for Tokyo Narita. Formerly this was Northwest 1, now the flight number is Delta 283 after Northwest's merger into Delta.

Despite the fact that Delta has always been the one US major airline that traditionally shied away from flying Boeing 747s, Delta is now the last US domestic airline that operates 747s out of Los Angeles. The only other holdout, United Airlines, has just downgauged its last Los Angeles 747 route, Sydney, to the 777; United now flies all 747s only out of San Francisco.

This aircraft is from Northwest's later batch of six 747-400s from the late 1990s. Originally, Northwest had ordered fourteen 747-400s as the launch customer, but canceled after ten; the original N672US would've been the twelfth, and it was instead delivered to United as N106UA before serving with Phuket Air and going into storage.
