A series of photos showing the right hand in action - for Flickr Friday theme

Drawing, much like taking photos, is where my right hand takes me to another universe....

Lately my eyeglasses aren't enough, so, to read (my right hand to help me resting), I have to use a magnifying glass for small letters

She is not only my fellow companian, but also a real reminder that dreams do come true... no matter what people say or think :) If you really, strongly want something, do not just sit around and dream about it, but instead stand up and do whatever it takes to achieve it! I had a dream to have a dog, MY dog, but of course many people around me thought that this is impossible because I'm a student and do not have the money ooor the responsibility to take care of a dog all by myself... well :) I think I do a pretty good job four years already, and when I got her she was only 32 days old!

Thank you all for taking the time to read my little confession and of course I really appreciate your comments and views! Have a great weekend all!

Leading Daisy to the outdoor school for a jumping session.

I chose this photo for the challenge because the camera is my right hand these days. It opens up whole new worlds, makes me "see" like I have never seen before and in general just makes life more fun! Like when I should be filling water cans for the chickens and get to playing with the water and making rainbows and wondering if I can make a double rainbow! If you look very closely you may just see the second one on the top! The chickens eventually get their water but I had so much fun playing with both it and the camera....

if these gloves could talk - i'd probably have to shoot them. They've loaded gear in and out of more venues in more conditions and places than i can remember.

It was a drummer who turned me onto them "protect your fingers when lugging gear in and out - roping gloves are great" - from alberta of course "but not a cowboy" - he wore mocasins when drumming "to feel the pedals" - nice

For #FlickrFriday, my daughter is #myrighthand ...often with some bribing, I'll get a chance to photograph her, but only for a few seconds ;) I hope when she gets older, she will one day say, "Mommy, I'm glad you took all those pictures of me." Regardless, each moment with her is cherished.

My monopod accompanies me on most walks because a) I used the pointy end on snow and ice in Alaska, and b) the top of the monopod has a "V"-shaped accessory (a notch) into which one can rest a lens of most sizes.

We also have a newer Manfrotto monopod with a gimbal head for the 300mm and 500mm lenses when we don't want to carry the sturdy tripod. Thus far we haven't felt like bringing the heavier lenses, but the monopod looks sturdy ;)

Uploaded for the Flickr Friday #MyRightHand theme this week.

Thanks for looking.

Here's my right hand. Today I am making just the dough in my bread maker. I read that when using Spelt flour and baking the dough in the machine won't work well, so I'm going to bake the bread in the oven. I'll add some seeds in and on the bread for extra taste.

This major work is in the centre of Cardiff and commemorates the manual workers of Cardiff Docks. It is sited above the culverted canal that supplied coal to Cardiff Docks. The hands are over 2 metres high

The #FlickrFriday #MyRighthand challenge

You enter a room, quite a large one, perhaps very grand. All eyes are upon you. You make your way (perhaps you are led) to a small raised platform about 1 metre square, surrounded by a wooden barrier reaching to about waist height. On a small ledge within are a number of Holy Books, including the New Testament, the Old Testament and The Koran. A soberly dressed lady or gentleman quietly asks you if you prefer to swear or affirm, and if the former, your religion.

You take the appropriate Holy Book in your right hand - always the right hand - and are asked to read from a card. I'd take the Church of England version:

"I swear by Almighty God that the evidence I give will be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth." Yours is the only voice breaking the silence.

Having been sworn, you risk perjury if you willfully mislead the court, so get it right. First you are asked to introduce yourself to the magistrate/s or judge presiding, above whom there is a coat of arms; the lion and the unicorn standing rampant facing each other with a shield in between. Dieu et Mon Droit is written beneath. If it's a judge there will also be 12 good men and women; the jury, selected randomly, hanging on to your every word, we hope. And then you encounter the first advocate. If you have been called by The Crown to give evidence, that person will represent The Crown Prosecution Service. You will probably be allowed to refresh your memory from any statement or note of the incident you made. You are examined (questioned) on your evidence, the advocate drawing out information from you to present their case. Then another advocate, this time representing the accused, will cross examine you, seeking to present their own case and discredit that of "their opponent", for in the UK this is an adversarial process within which the truth emerges in a distinctly courtly style. Many would find that a controversial proposition so let's leave it for other forums. Having been cross examined you may be re examined by the first advocate, and then have to answer a question or two from the judge or magistrate. The process takes as long as it takes. Sometimes it's just a few minutes, other times a day or more. And you're standing, entirely alone, all eyes and ears upon you, for all of it.

All part of life's experience! The photo represents (no photography is allowed during a trial in the UK) the taking of the oath. Monochrome seemed appropriate - a criminal trial finds guilty or not guilty, proven or not proven. It follows that every bit of evidence which is contested is found true or false, black or white. Perhaps the reality is more nuanced and if so, the greys reflect that. It's rightly taken very seriously. The camera was tripod mounted with one of those wireless shutter control thingies (a father's day present - thanks kids!) used by my unseen left hand to trigger the shutter. Far better for this than the old faithful delayed shutter release as numerous photos could be taken quickly with subtle changes in position of the hand to combat depth of focus issues. One of them had to be in focus! The background was further blurred using Photoshop, and brightness increased slightly on that right hand for emphasis to reflect this week's challenge.

This is my "handbag" camera - I never leave home without it. It is also the reason my handbag is so large.

For 25 years this Parker Duofold blue oyster finish fountain pen was my constant companion. Even though I use it less often these days, it remains a treasured possession. I can't even imagine how many words have been written with it. Somehow it was a natural subject for the Flickr Friday theme My Right Hand. It is resting one an old leather bound writing case which is over 60 years old and a family heirloom. Taken using a Fuji XT2 and Samyang 100mm f2.8 macro lens. Illumination is from a single Elinchrom studio flashlight fitted with a 60cm diffuser.

My right hand is the hand that allows me to speak with the other side, know the future, find answers, and makes me the bane of religious people.

My right hand is my partner Vicky. My week consists of my day job (which is quite often evenings as well), then photo events at the weekend which I process from 11pm to 2am in the nights following.

She puts up with a lot but she's the person that gives me the most objectiveness and encouragement in my photos.

This is her engagement ring. Love ya V xxx

Back in the olden days we did our own x-rays. Loading and unloading the cassettes, and developing the film in the dark, by hand, in solutions that RUINED white uniforms. Every once in a while we'd shoot one of our own body parts. This is one of mine. I've always thought x-rays were so very interesting.
