Although the Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) is a common plant, this deformity is not quite so common, but not that rare. It is caused by what is known as a Transposable Element, a piece of DNA that moves along the plant's own DNA causing changes to the structure, thus producing a cup-shaped flower at the top, although all the other flowers remain perfectly normal.
It self-planted itself in my garden and, luckily enough, I love foxgloves and never remove them, so was able to enjoy this beautiful "freebee" freak of nature.

There have been Blackbirds with white flecks on the wings near me in Penketh Warrington for the last few years . This year this one is in the same area .
I have a soft spot for this llama. I first saw him a couple of years ago from his good side. He turned around and I let out a gasp as he is the most malevolent looking thing and the beast you would least expect to find in a children's farm yard. Poor thing. I love him really.
