The Port of Alexandria is on the West Verge of the Nile Delta between the Mediterranean Sea and Mariut Lake. Alexandria Port is one of the oldest ports of the world. The earliest port facilities were built in 1900 BC in the then-village of Rhakotis. Alexandria is the second-largest city in Egypt. It was founded around a small pharaonic town c. 331 BC by Alexander the Great. It remained Egypt's capital for nearly a thousand years, until the Muslim conquest of Egypt in AD 641. Alexandria was known mainly because of its lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World; and its library (the largest library in the ancient world).
El Puerto de Alejandría está en la orilla oeste del Delta del Nilo entre el Mar Mediterraneo y el Lago Mariut. Este Puerto es uno de los más antiguos del mundo. Las más antiguas instalaciones fueron construidas en 1900 A.C. en la ciudad llamada Rhakotis. Alejandría es la segunda ciudad más grande de Egipto. Fue fundada alrededor de una pequeña cuidad faraónica alrededor de 331 A.C por Alejandro Magno. Fue la capital de Egipto durante casi mil años, hasta la conquista de Egipto por los musulmanes en 641 D.C. Alejandría era conocida principalmente por su faro, una de las Siete Maravillas del Mundo Antiguo, y por su Biblioteca (la más grande del mundo antiguo).
