Taken 2-14-20 South of Muncie IN

Nearly 11 years after rolling out of the Muncie, IN plant in Reading paint, NS SD70ACe 1067 has once again emerged with a new coat of paint thanks to shop personnel at Juniata Locomotive Works in Altoona, PA. The 1067 is pictured leading train 22X on the Passaic & Harsimus Branch in Newark, NJ bound for Croxton Yard in Jersey City, NJ with a short train.

With 16 cars, 9 loads and 7 empties, UP train MKSTP-15 begins it's short trip from 18th St. Yard in Kansas City, KS to Topeka, KS with a pair of SD40N's for power today. Here, they're on Main Track 2 of the UP Kansas Sub just to the west of West Yard, and they're heading into Muncie for work before continuing west to Topeka. 11/15/20.

One of the last few SP-painted AC4400CW's followed behind by a rebuilt AC44/60CW and a CN SD70M-2 lead UP train MNPNL-24 out of Bonner Spring on Main Track 1 of the UP Kansas Sub passing UP train CBTIM-23 tied down on Main Track 2.

They only have about an hour left to work, and they'll try to make it into town and hopefully meet the outbound crew, who will need to work UP's 18th St. Yard before leaving south. With the coal train tied down on 2, the Kansas Sub was basically single track from Z010 at Muncie to Z021 at Loring, which kept traffic congested as several westbounds were trying to leave town with several more eastbounds trying to make it into town.

However rough they may look, it's hard to imagine only a few "patched" Southern Pacific locomotives remain on the roster. This engine has most likely been through here many times when it was built new as the SP No. 192. 9/25/24.

This is where I lived from circa 1972-1977. Most of the plants and trees in the photo were planted by my father with the exception of those near the front porch and on either side of the garage.

I wanted to show this to a freind, and it appears that I did not previously upload it. Now everyone gets to see it. ;-)

Interesting tidbit. At some point, they totally renumbered everything. "41 Bayberry Lane" no longer exists.

As of 2013, it was syndicated in roughly 2,580 newspapers and journals, and held the Guinness World Record for being the world's most widely syndicated comic strip.

The Muncie Mall opened in 1970 the original anchors where Grants, Britt's, and Sears. Grants later became JCPenney. Britt's later on became L.S. Ayers which stayed in that location until a new store was built at the mall in 1997. Elder-Beerman took over the Britt's location, and in 2011 was rebranded Carson's.
