The Cookstown Ontario section of the Trans Canada Trail led me through nature and views of the nearby countryside as well as little surprises such as the bridge I am about to approach in this picture. All the little things created a wonderful trail experience on the Trans Canada Trail in Cookstown Ontario.

The museum of Cincinnati stuff's train set includes a nifty version of Crosley Field. Crosley was Cincinnati's version of those legendary ballparks from baseball's golden age. In addition to being the home of the Cincinnati Reds from 1912 until 1970, Crosley Field is known for being the first Major League park to have lights. Baseball's first night game was played at Crosley between the Reds and the Phillies on May 24, 1935. Incidentally, the bulbs for the lights used at that game were manufactured at the Ken-Rad Company in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Robin's parents saw games at Crosley before it was torn down in 1972. It was replaced by Riverfront Stadium, an ugly, multiuse bowl that Robin remembers fondly.

This route (D123?) is open only in winter when the marsh has frozen over.

For years, Lovers Key was accessible only by boat and it was said that only lovers traveled to the island to enjoy its remote and solitary beach. Today, it is one of four barrier islands that make up this state park. A haven for wildlife, the islands and their waters are home to West Indian manatees, bottlenose dolphins, roseate spoonbills, marsh rabbits, and bald eagles. The two mile long beach is accessible by boardwalk or tram and is popular for shelling, swimming, picnicking, and sunbathing. Black Island has over five miles of multiuse trails for hiking and bicycling. Anglers and boaters can launch their vessels from the park's boat ramp. The park's concession offers boat and fishing tours, as well as bicycle, canoe and kayak

Hiking along the Cookstown section of the Trans Canada Trail offered great views of nature and the countryside. Would like to try the trail in the winter while snowshoeing or cross country skiing.
