Yesterday, when the weatherman said, "possibility of rain on Saturday", and I saw on my Google Homepage the single word "Storm" superimposed on a graphic cloud, I was unimpressed.
But the thunder I heard this morning was encouraging, so I stepped inside to analyse my chances for making it to the lake on the trail without getting my camera wet (a disaster in 2008 had convinced that I'd never want that to happen again).
I was greeted by the sparkling residue from a very small shower, along with the lovely aroma of damp earth.
A vibrant, "Flickring" light display was being projected from the pond surface to the rocks, and I was inspired to video! (An exceedingly rare inspiration for me).
One must squint to barely notice the sparkling reflections which were the intended subject, but I thought that the morning bird songs were enough to compensate, so I present the experience, Willie's everpresent mudbucket and all!

When I heard the noise, I expected to see that a deer had gotten past the electric fence and knocked over a mudbucket in the back yard.
From where I sat, I could see on the little pecan a young squirrel whose attention had been attracted by something on the porch. It was enough to draw me out of my chair to check on things.
I saw after I had gotten to a better vantage point that the plastic jar containing bird seed is what had fallen. Another squirrel was on the shelf, and had knocked the jar to the floor, but by the time I retrieved my camera, had started down the wall.
Looks as if the critter would really like to have opened up that jar. I guess the bird feeders had been cleaned out already.

"So, I just don't really care!"
If you should ask why I would ever post these innocuous posies than once, that would be my answer.
I'll say, it's simply a study in personality. When at first I meant to take this photo, "Moose", a neighbor's cat, was posed at the base of the plants, and my intention was to bag a moose.
I pushed the shutter, and noticed only then, that my display said "card locked".
Somehow, while taking the card out of the USB reader, I had brushed the manual lock on the card, something I had NEVER done before, so I was surprised as well as unprepared.
Naturally, Moose chose not to hang around, so I had only the four-o'clocks to pose for me.
Remembering only last night, while reminiscing with some old photos on Flickr, I noticed a beautiful scene captured by my Flickr friend Gary, who was inquiring if he should remove the barely visible power lines, which to him were distracting. I'll bet you probably know what my vote was.
Looking at the garden hose and thinking how easy it would have been to pull it out of range of the shot, I thought, "Mudbuckets and hoses are part of my life! why should they not belong there?"
Power lines are always a nuisance, and many times I've edited them out of my photos, but they're really part of the reality of life, why should they be artificially obliterated?
An old Texas custom that's always offended me.
A couple of citizens (or not) parked their car on the low water crossing (which usually runs about 6" deep, but is bone dry now), and took some mudbuckets out of trunk and washed their car.
The park would have closed today anyway, but this sort of activity certainly can't help the situation.
