Dolerite colored the black desert

Sahara Sod is located just north of the White Desert, 50 km south of the Bawati Oasis. Its edge is bordered by mountains that, long ago, ejected a black volcanic mass called dolerite, which forms black rocks.

Thanks to their weathering, the original yellow sand of the desert is covered with a layer of black dust and stones. Some parts of the Black Desert, especially the places covered with conical hills, resemble volcanic scenery.

The highest mountain in the Black Desert is English Mountain, from which there is an interesting view of the surroundings. Gebel az-zuqaq is also a well-known mountain, mainly due to the red, orange and yellow rocks.

The Black Desert ends with a small mountain of pyramidal shape and volcanic origin at the oasis Bahriya - Gebel Gala Siwa. It used to be a lookout point for caravans coming from the Siwa oasis.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜

The Valley of Agabat is deep within the white desert.

I had to be there to feel the out-worldly beauty of the place. Millions of years ago, the place used to be under the sea. Over the years, unique rock formations of limestone, chalk (and maybe sand) have developed. When I stood atop the small rock cliff in one of the valleys and the valley with the rock formation unfolded before me, and there was not a single trace of another living being in entire neighborhood, I found a unique moment of peace and contentment.

Don't miss it!

Just like anywhere in Egypt, the best place to be in the late afternoon is the Nile. Take a felucca from any shore and sail for a few hours, to enjoy the soft afternoon light and the sunset, cool off in the evening breeze and relax after checking the attractions.

The best known felucca trip up the river to Banana Island, islet dotted with palms palm trees about 5km from Luxor. It takes 2 to 3 hours. Plan to return in time to watch a beautiful sunset on the Nile, still on the felucca.

3 times on a Felucca (Tours) in Luxor.

A pyramid-shaped mountain that is a lookout.

One of the beautiful attractions of the Black Desert is Pyramid Mountain, a relief form that shoot up from the ground much like a pyramids out of the desert. The mountain has symmetrical sides and a pointed peak.

This natural pyramid is just a few kilometers away from Bahariya Oasis. Locals call it Magic Mountain because of the way the light plays on the texture and material of the mountain during the different hours of the day. The golden colour of this rock is very attractive, especially in the later afternoon sun.

This month, Snow Goose migration is in full swing at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Northern Lancaster County, PA. Every year I return to this spot in hopes to capture an amazing fish-eye shot. I'm usually thwarted by bad weather or overcast skies. Today I got the shot I've always hope to get with my Canon 8-15mm F/4L lens. Perfect submission for this week's #FlickrFriday

Taken for Flickr Friday's Move the World.

Flickr Friday-Move The World!

Amazon Eve and Anne are always looking for something new to do, so today they thought they'd move the world.

You can move a world, just as effectively with words as well as actions... This is a desk in the home of the great Benjamin Disraeli, and maybe such words were crafted here... Who knows.. Hughenden Manor. Feb 2016

I had this idea only yesterday night (thursday), my son was going to sleep ... I was afraid the photo was not accept to the group ... not only it was accepted but also selected for Flickr Friday Selection! :-)

A Flickr Friday submission on the topic "Move the World". The "world" is a "Little Planet" reconstruction of a 360 degree panorama of the bushland near my home. The hands are mine!

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,

By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,

“Though the crest be shorn and shaven, thou,” I said, “art sure no craven,

Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore-

Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!”

Quoth the Raven, “Nevermore.”

Coffee beans "dripping" into a cup of black coffee, the drink that lets people #MoveTheWorld. Beans and coffee courtesy of Well Grounded, El Cerrito, California. Cup made by my best friend's mother.

Despite various rigging attempts and hardware store trips, I never quite achieved what I envisioned. When the trigger was set sensitive enough to hear the lightweight beans hitting the coffee it also tripped when opening the shutter. The beans kept sticking in the tube I mounted over the cup. Eventually I ran out of time and had to wash the coffee out of the Micro Apollo softbox and backdrop and catch up on the projects I was supposed to be doing.
