Kayla yanked Adrienne behind a dumpster a few yards from the door, pressing her back against the cold metal as she scanned the alley. It was the same narrow passage they’d jumped to upon arriving at the restaurant.
“What was that about?” Adrienne murmured, her voice slightly unsteady. “I was just starting to feel the wine.”
Kayla held up a finger to her lips, a quiet shhh escaping her.
Just then, the side door flew open, and two men stepped into the alley. Their eyes swept up and down the dimly lit corridor.
“They’re not out here. Check the restroom, search the place!” one ordered.
A second voice murmured, “They may have jumped.”
The man in the gray suit slipped back inside, but the one in black remained, his gaze fixed on the shadows.
Kayla and Adrienne were on high alert. He was one of them. Without hesitation, they shifted between dimensions, peering at him through the haze of the veil.
“I saw our waiter speaking to the man in gray,” Kayla whispered. “They were watching us. I knew something was off.”
Adrienne frowned. “How did the waiter know who we were?”
“He’s human, so I’m not sure. But if the reptiles in this timeline have started mixing their DNA with humans, it’s possible he was controlled—maybe even able to sense us. If that’s the case, we didn’t detect him at all. That’s what worries me.”
The man in the black suit prowled the alley, nostrils flaring.
Then, in a deep, guttural voice thick with mucus, he snarled, “I smell you. You are here.”
In a blink, his form twisted, shifting into something monstrous. Scales rippled across his skin, his mouth stretching wide to reveal rows of jagged teeth dripping with spittle. A primal scream erupted from his throat, reverberating through the alley. He slashed the air with his talons ripping long claw marks in the steel dumpster.
Adrienne stiffened in horror. Even with the dimensional barrier protecting them, he felt terrifyingly close. She fought to suppress her own scream.
Kayla had seen this transformation before. She knew the effect it would have on Adrienne and instinctively wrapped her arm around her.
Then, as suddenly as he had changed, the reptile snapped back to his human disguise and vanished inside.

A Honey Bee focused on working the flowers. The only processing here is reducing the saturation for this effect.
What motivated me to create this picture? The idea of turning an ordinary cell phone photo with Photoshop into an impressionistic pencil drawing with the addition of pastels
Awoke to snow on the ground this morning. Motivated enough to go out with my DSLR this morning the wrong direction for work so I could get some pics of the nearby park.
I liked the warmth and light of the buildings, and the cool blueness of the snow below.
Maybe not the best composition, but good enough! :)

Today was one of those lazy days when it comes to photography, I kept putting off picking up the camera and finally as the light was starting to sink I figured I'd better get moving.
What better for a day of procrastinating than a photo of a motivator... that and I was a little stumped on inspiration and coffee is always a good model!
Anyway hope everyone has had a good day, and a Happy Independence Day to all my American friends!

I've not met many like ela. Actually, I've yet to meet her. My flickr friend ela is from Romania, on another continent away, but she has become someone very dear to me. She somehow manages to stay motivated, despite her current struggles, to keep up with her artistic side. Along with her insightful and often fascinating photography, she crafts tiny creatures and dolls from scraps of fabric. They're amazing!
I myself have never enjoyed sewing as it requires so much patient focus, yet just recently I found myself digging out some scrap fabrics, ironing them out, and cutting out heart shapes to be made into 3 inch tall puffy hearts. The work is no longer work; it's an expression of joy containing gifts of acceptance and motivation gleaned from several world-wide friends such as ela. I am so grateful to the people who keep on keeping-on; you encourage all of us with your perseverance... Wishing all of you a Happy Valentine's Day :)

What is happiness … happiness is fleeting … it may only last for moments at a time, but when it does you will know it, because it is the most amazing feeling and today I make the most of it for tomorrow I know that there may be pain again … and with the pain the darkness may descend and swallow me whole, but just for today I embrace the wonders of the universe and all is very, very good! Oh, the above, just a silly story … a complete and utter figment of my imagination! A girl can dream, can't she … ; 0)))

A swimmer getting in their morning workout in the San Diego Bay.
I was at Coronado to shoot the sunrise with the Coronado Bridge but couldn't help but grab some pictures of this brave soul as they swam by before the break of day.
Incredible Russian model Sitorabanu in the Bugatti Veyron overlooking the nighttime Dubai Marina skyline.
This image was from one of several walkabouts I have done downtown recently. On this occasion I was motivated by having a Noblex to test and a new roll of the Rollei Paul & Rheinhold film. I think this was the Paul roll, or maybe it was the Rheinhold, I don't remember exactly.
Walks through downtown have gotten pretty depressing. If you want to see cumulative effect that all of the past year has wrought, this is the place to witness it. Anyway, I have a collection of complicated thoughts on this issue, many of which I have not even fully worked through myself. So I am not going to share any more of them here tonight and instead leave off with this image.

Aberdeen, Carolina and western MP15ac #1451 is motivated, it is a self starter. Yep self starter...I had no idea, standing on the road next to a quiet yard, this locomotive just started. I had no idea that a locomotive could be set up to self start. Most unnerving if you don't know and aren't expecting as there were no rail people around. The tag on the lower cab front has the decal in the next pic...I just hadn't seen it before it started. Guess the cab will be warm and the windows defrosted, lmao! Pic of the self start decal in link.
