Mosquito Bits® “Quick Kill”
Marshy swampy areas inundated with larvae? Sprinkle Mosquito Bits® (Quick Kill) as a shock to quickly annihilate the larval population. Corn cob granules coated in Bti, the Bits™ (do not last long but) provide a punch, turning water black with larvae, to a clear pool void of future mosquitoes. A week after application either supplement with Mosquito Dunks®, for long term control or continue to add Bits™ on a bi-weekly basis. The Mosquito Bits® are now labeled to control Fungus Gnats in plant beds or pots! Utilizing a similar mode of action for control of mosquito larvae, the Bits™, either sprinkled on the soils surface or mixed with potting soil prior to planting will kill fungus gnat larvae with the same safety and target specific control offered for mosquito larvae.

Our award winning DynaTrap technology uses a 3-way protection plan for insect removal. A UV-LED light produces warm, bright light that attracts insects to the unit. The DynaTrap also produces carbon dioxide, which is irresistible to mosquitoes. Once attracted to the unit, the powerful fan draws the insects and mosquitoes into the retaining cage where they dehydrate and die, typically within 24 hours.

The final product will be filled with water for one week. The paper towel will be removed and sent to Talya at Cornell to rear and identify mosquitoes that hatch from eggs on the paper towel.
CORRECTION: It was not pesticide dumping afterall, but indeed was a fire. My neighbor confirmed it this morning when I met her at the gym. I'm a dork. BUT pesticide spraying really was scheduled for last night -- didn't happen though & is re-scheduled for tonight.
Last week I told you about the new pond we were adding to the garden. We didn’t want to invest in expensive koi, especially since these cheap feeder goldfish often do better. They will help control mosquitoes and provide some beauty in the pond. We’re hoping at least 3-5 of them survive (we bought 10), I’ll keep you updated. We got them home right as the sun was setting, always a good time to take some photos!
