Just look to tomorrow

Look straight ahead

Don't be discouraged, don't let them win

There's no use in crying

It's not the end

Don't listen to those monsters in your head

The Monster Building, located in Quarry Bay neighbourhood in Eastern Hong Kong, isn’t actually a single building, but an E-shaped 19-floor complex composed of five interconnected structures: Oceanic Mansion, Fok Cheong Building, Montane Mansion, Yick Cheong Building, and Yick Fat Building. It was built during a population boom in the 1960s to offer housing for low-income residents. The Monster Building has 2443 flats and is home to around 6 thousand people.

The monster always reside within your heart, your mind, and it's up to you to hold it back.

I seem to under estimate of this picture because my wife, and my friends don't like it. However, it has been picked by National Geographic's Daily Dozen today - 7/21.

I got to know

I'm the only one for you

What have I become?

I'm a fucking monster

When all I wanted

was something beautiful

My love, too much

Your love, not enough

My love, too much

Your love

Oh, what it takes out of me

to lay by your side

Oh, how it aches and it aches:

you make me want to die

I got to kill you, my love

I got to kill you , my love

You said forever,

now you look right through me

You said forever,

did your words fall short like you?

What have I done?

I'm a fucking monster

I had a chip on my shoulder, had to let it go

'Cause unforgiveness keeps them in control

I came in with good intentions, then I let it go

And now I really wanna know

But what if I, what if I trip?

What if I, what if I fall?

Then am I the monster?

Just let me know

And what if I, what if I sin?

And what if I, what if I break?

Then am I the monster?

Just let me know,

The Sand Motor was built as coastal protection. The no access sign was there because of research activities (unknown to me). It looked like such a contrast to the wide open coastal landscape.

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

Quote ― Friedrich Nietzsche

So don't get hypnotized and just let them return where they belong. They will come back though…….

Gila Monster: Beads, Burrows, and Bite

One of only two venomous lizards in North America (the other’s in Mexico), the Gila Monster lumbers through the Southwest like it owns the desert—which it kind of does.

It doesn’t strike—it gnaws to inject venom. Yes, chews. Slowly. While you rethink your life choices.

It spends most of its time underground, emerging to snack on eggs, hatchlings, and the occasional unlucky rodent.

I photographed this one drinking at a pond and then strolling off like it had a reservation somewhere cooler. It never rushed. Why would it? Legends don’t run.

In The Labyrinth Of Ichtrys the power of transformation of Ahrghylla materialize in an old Monster of Shadows as the environment freezes in the cave.

Lady of Elche and Ahryadhe had never seen anything like it but one thing they were sure, they were not against an easy rival but the ancient Queen Of The Underworld ... Ahrghylla ... and she is the Regent of Krudhyn !

With a voice hissing like a snake, the monster turning to the two Lady Guardians which however recede a few steps behind:

- Ah! Ah! Do you think that I'm afraid of the Coreoleans Masters or the granddaughter of a Dahrm ... you are ordinary mortals!

- I have seen many bitches as you ! - responds telepathically Ahryadhe without moving his lips, as do all Coreoleans.

The two Ladies recede a little more as they prepare to fight for their own life.

All scenery were constructed, the personages are not real. Several hours on this one ...

A favorite abandoned farmhouse on mine. I need to revisit it soon to see if it still stands.

The foot trail goes between these redwood monsters along the Trillium Falls Trail, Redwood National and State Parks, October, 2024. We found it not uncommon to see the corkscrew-like bark patterns like the one on the left. It is impossible to hike here and not feel changed.

Here's a wee Ai tale to warm up a grey Scottish day:

"Vital Spark and the Rainy-Day Rescue"

It was a dreich old morning in Inveraray. The sky hung low like a damp woolly jumper, and rain pattered down the harbour stones in gentle rhythm. But out in the bay, bobbing proudly among the mist, sat the little Clyde puffer Vital Spark, her smokestack puffing cheerfully despite the gloom.

Aboard her was Captain Para Handy, tugging his cap down low. “Och, it’s the sort o’ day that would make even a seagull stay in bed,” he muttered, staring out at the grey Loch Fyne.

Just then, a wee puffin fluttered by in a fluster. “Help!” it cried. “The Argyll picnic has washed out! The children are sad and soggy, and they’ve nowhere warm to go!”

Para Handy’s eyes lit up. “Vital Spark’s no just for hauling coal and tatties—we’ll throw a party onboard!”

And so, the puffer chugged to shore, sounding her hooter with a proud toot-toot!. Children in dripping wellies came clambering aboard, their laughter quickly outshining the raindrops.

Dougie the engineer rustled up hot mugs of cocoa. The deck was strung with bunting fashioned from old tea towels. Even the rain seemed to soften, as if it wanted to listen in.

They sang shanties, danced little jigs, and Para Handy told tales of sea monsters and starfish with Scottish accents. The Vital Spark, once just a working boat, sparkled like her name.

By the time the clouds cleared and the hills turned gold under the evening sun, the children declared it the best picnic they’d ever had.

And from that day on, everyone in Inveraray agreed: on a dreich day, the Vital Spark could still brighten the world.

A friend of mine loved monster cabinets when he was a child. He told me so when we strolled arond the DOM, a funfair in Hamburg. He "ran" into my picture unintentionally. How funny, I thought. He made himself a monster. Just the way he loved it when he was a child. :)

Monster and Washer Woman Towers are eroding monoliths of Wingate Sandstone rising 1400 feet (426 m) above the White Rim in Canyonlands National Park. When viewed from the north or south Washer Woman looks like its namesake with an arch formed by the "arms." The towers are backed by the Island in the Sky, a high plateau partially obscured here by an oncoming snow squall.

The White Rim Sandstone in the foreground is undercut by the Middle Fork of Buck Canyon. Recent precipitation has partially filled a pothole providing a mirror reflecting Monster and Washer Woman.
