Blessed to find this very young fawn. Have not seen one in years. He had a twin that they had stopped on the hill to wait for.

The Red-bellied Grackle is a distinctive rare blackbird of cloud forest in the Colombian Andes. It is large, long-tailed, and heavy-billed with a bright red belly and otherwise glossy black plumage. Red-bellied Grackles moves through the forest in groups, giving a variety of calls. While it has been recorded from all three ranges of the Andes in Colombia, contemporary localities are few.

Here you can see the main differences between an adult and a juvenile: 1. The most obvious, the size. 2. The plumage on the frontal part is red in the adult and a soft orange in the juvenile. 3. The eye of the adult is white and that of the juvenile is black.

Like other toucans, the Andean Toucanet is brightly marked and has a large bill. The adult is 30–35 cm (12–14 in) long. The sexes are alike in appearance, although the female generally is smaller and slightly shorter-billed.
The Andean Toucanet is a generally common in humid forest and woodland, mainly at higher elevations.

Looking for Mom.
My backyard pair of Cooper's Hawks have successfully raised two almost fledged youngsters. The youngsters are making short flights but they still depend on their parents for food, so they spend most of the day screaming for their parents to bring more food.

We arrived at 6 am; the female was in the tidal zone foraging, occasional sounds from the cubs escaped the forest, but we could not see them. She disappeared into the forest a few hours passed, then returned to the tidal zone; not a sound came from the forest. We were wondering if she had instructed the cubs to stay hidden; they must have been sleeping. We knew the second the crying started, they were awake and wanting their Mom. She ignored the cries and continued foraging, knowing the cubs would eventually join her. The largest, more adventurous cub came insight then worked his way over to Mom. He appeared to be stuck rocking back and forth; I thought his feet were caught between rocks and wondered what the heck was wrong with Mom. Why didn't she show any concern? He wasn't stuck at all. He was trying to imitate his Mom by turning a large rock, one of the cutest things I have witnessed. It melted our hearts.

Hija, mi cosita bella!!! Tanto tiempo juntas sin estarlo. La gente no entiende muy bien como se manejan las "relaciones" que se forman en "un juego".
Yo por el contrario creo que tiene que ver con VALORES, esos con los que creces desde niño y que tre van formando día a día. Porque no es necesario ser otra persona "para jugar", se trata de seguir siendo uno...así sin más.
Yo super agradecida a la vida xq te cruzaras en mi camino y más aún porque a pesar de no compartir mucho, sigas en él.
Estoy super orgullosa de la "familia" que elegí en ese mundito virtual y a la que elegí traer a esta vida afuera. Gracias x estar, por ser y escuchar. Amarte con el alma.

Today a celebration. The whole herd, some 20 mountain goats, have finally found their way to our side of the mountain in time for some winter shots. They were all pretty intent on festive feeding this afternoon and I was glad to be close enough to follow them.
They did dine in family units. Occasional disputes arose when the little guys wandered into a male's space from another unit.

Hi Mom... Happy Birthday!
October 18th, 2007 my Mom would have turned 80.
I miss her terribly and so does my Dad, family and friends.
She taught me to appreciate nature and to always be kind to others.
