Here is a close-up of the connection. The garage module has an opening big enough to put two connecting bricks in each, but the smaller house module has room for four connecting bricks. This larger opening is not for more bricks, it is to allow a selection of where the garage connecting bricks connect so you can make the adjustment of how the house module is placed next to the garage module.

This product is pretty cool. One guy set up this home's foundation in a couple days using this modular expanded polystyrene formwork. The consolation to using non-biodegradable polystyrene as a formwork is that you leave the blocks in place, substantially increasing the R-value of the foundation. Not losing heat to the ground represents a huge energy savings in the northern climates.
Modular building incorporates every aspect of a build to ensure each part works seamlessly with the others, including outside space, balconies and flexible living space.
I've never really experimented with modular origami, but after finding a paper that was just a tad thick for organic figures, I decided to have a go. Folded from 4, 6, 24, and 30 units.
This project was partly about the ideas of modularity but also communicating a sequence or progression in design. The shape we were to build was an icosahedron, one of five platonic solids. We were to show how the icosahedron was formed out of a number of triangles.
My latest experiment in something other than standard modular buildings. The alley features a dead end, some boxes and a dumpster.

All of the switches and crossings installed on the Thameslink Project were of the modular type, meaning that no bespoke bearers were made and all can fit on the modular wagons and assembled on site.
Denver Lawson came to a BOS convention with this modular, which really blew people away. He was kind enough to teach a class how to fold it. Dennis Walker and myself looked at the module in the exhibition and both thought "It looks like an Artichoke!"
