Modern houses, almost castles on the banks of the frozen Moskva River. Krasnogorsk near Moscow. Russia.
These buildings look attractive at any time, I like to look at them and take pictures. But I would not want to live in such a house, it may be comfortable, but not profitable.

The church St Saveur (I assume to begin with, medieval, but rebuilt after the first world war), the remains of the old fortificationl, and a more modern house built straight into that wall.
In the small town of Coucy-le-Château-Auffrique (also known as Coucy or Coucy-le-Château).
Very attractive too. Given the recent work, it would look like the room on the ground floor to the right has changed to living space from an internal garage. This seems to be very popular, along with larger windows and a double width front door. It goes without really needing to be said that living space would go up into the loft area, which is a great use of space.

This is the Lancaster Canal, which dates from the 1790s. It was constructed to help improve the supply of coal to Lancaster, though this role was taken over by the railways. These beautiful canalside houses at Borwick are very much newer than that, of course. The canal currently ends at Tewitfield, about a mile to the north of here, where a road embankment has cut across it. In the south, it goes as far as Preston. These days, the canal is used purely for leisure purposes.

The final stretch of my walk, a steep, and slippery descent down the Barton Hills Nature Reserve back to Barton-le Clay.
It gets its name from its position on a ridge of gault clay. The old part of the village is entered around the church. The village grew in the 1960s and 70s when large numbers of modern houses were built. The A6 now bypasses the village
I like this smart, modern house by the river. Despite being on a slight slope, I'm not sure that it is 100% flood proof though.
If you thought it was impossible to mess up what is basically a rectangular design with lego, here I am to prove you wrong. :D
To make matters worse, it turned out too big to take a good picture.

Not everyone wants to live in an old house, with small windows and thick walls to keep some heat in. This modern dwelling uses glass and insulation to take best advantage of the light. A steel frame and breeze block lurks under the dressed stone exterior.

This is my first build in my Iron Builder round against Mountain Hobbit, using the Windscreen 6 x 4 x 1 Hexagonal with Bar Handle. You see all the builds here: [Iron.builders]
I built this model as the first in a series of 1:24 scale MCM structures. Built over the course of one week.

Seen in the NW community of Parkdale in Calgary. In front is a "Bring a book, take a book" community library. Also, I see they have their air conditioner on the street, which would likely be appreciated by their close neighbours. Air conditioning is not too common in most Calgary homes - we don't have a long hot summer. But with our 300 sunny days a year, high end homes with lots and lots of glass might need it more than the rest...
{...And so, the mermaid tired of finding littered underwater furniture and items from ships sinking, decided to have a home make-over. Wasn't she delighted when a freight ship sunk nearby her home, full of IKEA furniture.}
