La place Dauphine, longue de 102 mètres et large de 67 mètres occupe un espace triangulaire, dans l'ouest de l'île de la Cité. Elle constitue, avec le palais de Justice, la partie de l'île appartenant au 1er arrondissement de Paris. La pointe du triangle débouche au milieu du pont Neuf, sur la place du Pont-Neuf, via la courte rue Henri-Robert (considérée autrefois comme faisant partie de la place). L'est de la place est séparé du palais de Justice par la rue de Harlay. Sur chacun des deux autres côtés de la place, une rangée d'immeubles la sépare du quai de l'Horloge au nord et du quai des Orfèvres au sud.
Place Dauphine, 102 meters long and 67 meters wide, occupies a triangular space in the west of the Ile de la Cité. It constitutes, with the courthouse, the part of the island belonging to the 1st arrondissement of Paris. The tip of the triangle leads to the middle of the Pont Neuf, on the Place du Pont-Neuf, via the short rue Henri-Robert (formerly considered part of the square). The east of the square is separated from the courthouse by rue de Harlay. On each of the other two sides of the square, a row of buildings separates it from the Quai de l'Horloge to the north and the Quai des Orfèvres to the south.
