The North West Museum of Road Transport has a superb photo archive. This view dates from 1951 and shows an AEC Mammoth Major delivering a consignment of glass to Liverpool Docks, for onwards shipment to the Netherlands. This was the era of ‘Export or Die’, so the Dutch order was doubtless very welcome.
In the background, a train of the Liverpool Overhead Railway clatters past.

The crane was starting its journey Northwards to West Yorkshire, going to a new owner to be preserved for posterity.
