“A sawmill or lumber mill is a facility where logs are cut into lumber. Modern sawmills use a motorized saw to cut logs lengthwise to make long pieces, and crosswise to length depending on standard or custom sizes.” There is a long history of sawmills in the Missouri Ozarks. This one is near VanBuren, Missouri.
Abandoned "Gardens".
On the right, not a business that sells goods or secular services, but one of the many thousands little churches of this or that that can be seen everywhere in the Country.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Hiding behind breakfast. Good day for the mantis ... Bad day for the butterfly.

Easter is here this Sunday. No Easter Car Show in Forest Park this year due to the COVID. I guess we'll have to let these old cars get 1 year older before we see them next year.

A post office and community in the southeast part of Cape Girardeau County, named for the Randles family who live there. A post office has been maintained here since 1892.
It was a dreary day when I dove over to this community, so I chose a texture that emphasized the atmospheric conditions.
This may be the oldest standing house in the community, although I am only speculating, I have no information on the ages of any of these houses.
I liked the brown siding. Its called Taper Shingles and was used 1910s-1930s to cover older 19th century houses.
Not intended as a posting for interest in itself, but rather to provide context for my other rookery shots. The island at center is the site of the nests, with the trees and shrubbery filled with various residents: Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Black-crowned Night Herons, and a few Little Blue Herons.
I'm catching up with the Iris that have bloomed for us the first time this year. Here are some.

Sketched on a cake box! The cakes were the best! The best! Located in The Hill neighbourhood of St. Louis, big Italian heritage here, lots of green, white and red.
This is a Springfield landmark! It was built in 1927, and was originally used as an office building. In 1930, it became a hotel, and operated under several different names. It had a bowling alley in the basement and a garage in the back. Up until recently, it served as a shelter for the homeless...
