Mishaps occur. Cleaning up is needed afterward.

Happy Macro Mondays

LA&L 428 & 433 start into the ess curves at Pole Bridge Road in Avon, NY with 25 cars on December 18, 2020. I don't know what happened with my camera, but I blasted off about 20 frames as they rolled through the curves in killer light. For some reason the only image on my SD card was this one, the first shot. I don't know where the rest went. Too bad because they were looking great as they got closer, and had a nice cloud of snow rising off the cars.

After a mishap with my inventory, this is how I appear now. lol

and a bit of a mishap for me ! I could climb up a dirt hill to get here, but unfortunately, I found that I couldn't climb down again, as my balance is still uncertain, to say the least ! In the end, I edged down on my behind - losing Marnie's lead from my pocket in the process.

Sutton Park has featured in many of my photographs and this was another visit to one of my favourite spots there. Next time I go, I'll take a stick 😊 !

In the past few days we've had two electrical storms. The first one started around midnight and I was too tired to go out (I'm actually quite nervous of thunderstorms) but saw some wonderful images the next day and felt quite envious.

The second one a few days later started around 9pm so I just grabbed my bag and drove off to the nearest coastal point to me before I lost my nerve. It was a weird storm which lots of lightning but not much thunder or rain.

Mishap 1: I didn't check settings other then a vague idea that a wide angled lens is better.

Mishap 2: I didn't have a torch to hand so I couldn't see what I was doing when mounting the camera, and playing with settings. Fortunately a couple of other storm chasers helped me out!

Mishap 3: I thought the drive there and back was a bit different. It seemed darker then usual apart from the lightning flashes. It was only a day or so later that I realised my lights were not set to coming on automatically so it appears I drove there and back with no lights on.

Oh and the lightning was not over the sea!

Apart from that it was fine.

Oops, had a little mishap on the way to the feeder.

Making cupcakes with my granddaughter and just had to eat these candy sprinkles that were spilled. We had green tongues afterwards and she loved that.

The morning following the mishap described yesterday, I was up early and back on site. The elk were still in the area; we could hear the big bulls bugling in the forest. I say "we" because this isn't like Grasslands NP, where I usually shoot alone: wildlife photographers are well aware of the elk rut in Jasper.

Here a couple of bull elk engage in some light sparring. Elk are constantly testing each other to establish their place in the herd hierarchy. Real fighting is comparatively rare, and takes place almost exclusively between evenly matched individuals. Lesser bulls know their limitations and back down from a challenge.

More to come...

If you've ever riden a young horse that's just under saddle then you may relate to this one.

Sometimes just about anything can cause these youngsters to lose it, and eat your lunch.

And just when you think it won't happen to you, It will. lol

Rio Grande SD9s No. 5309, 5311, and SD7 No. 5304 await assignment at Roper Yard in South Salt Lake, Utah the afternoon of Jan. 14, 1977. It appears 5311's front coupler experienced an mishap at some point.

A night of mishaps and successes, firstly Matt and I set off for a good location in the woods, but we couldn't remember how to get there. Then we decided to go to the underground fuel bunkers, but the fence has been reinforced and no way to get in. Luckily Matt found a good spot but it got a bit cold and windy so we braved it out and Matt got a shot. The we found this spot by the lake and I knocked out a rotation.

This wish will of course be fulfilled immediately!

Today we safely arrived to our new home, after almost one week on the roads. Our old scooters was struggling but stubborn, without any big mishaps. By the way........ "New home" ? The only thing I can say is, that my granddads' brother was one big compulsive liar ! We thought he owned a Manor, which he bragged about every time we were in contact. Now I know why he always was busy or out of town, when we wanted to visit him. Well, he was odd...... but this is weird.

We arrived very early this morning, it is still dark. So we haven´t been able to make a proper look yet. But this is a hovel, and the garden is a scrap yard. But though we can´t return, we have to deal with it. So we broke in...... and after a primitive meal (some eggs and bacon) we laughed for a while and said :

- "It has to go. We have to try at least !"

Thank God I have Stella. Not everybody would take this situation like she did, and I probably should quail! Now we try to sleep a couple of hours on the old pallet sofa, and do a proper inspection of our heritage tomorrow in daylight.

Good night...... or rather morning !

It has to go (Det måste gå)

The road ends, at the mountain top.

This early morning, before the sun goes up.

The day is waiting, feels like time stand still.

Come give me strength, come give me courage.

It has to go

It has to go

The will is there, to try at least!

The sun rises slowly, and heats the soil

which needs all the heat, and a future trust.

Within me, many questions remain

who is burning of longing, after answers.

It has to go

It has to go

The will is there, to try at least!

La la la la .........

The will is there to try, try at least

Just gotta go

it just has to go

The will is there to try, try at least

just have to go

la la la la .......

It has to go

It has to go

I had a major mishap while developing this film. I was distracted, talking to my wife and grandson, and accidentally poured the stop bath in first. I immediately tipped it out, rinsed, and then put in the developer. I didn't think I'd get any pics but surprising some were not too bad. The negs were dark but the scanner managed to pick up most of the images. Some shots were totally wasted and some, like this one, came out with a grainy but atmospheric look about them.

An unfortunate mishap for these folks as they were heading in to downtown Minneapolis.

I was not quite quick enough 'on the draw' - sometimes I like to post my mishaps.

I think there is a good dof for the post but not really what I was aiming for!

Class 58 58007 derailed near Fenny Compton late 1980's or early 1990's'. 58007 was on an MGR working from Nottinghamshire to the Didcot Power Station. Unforttunately I cannot find any information in the railway press conconerning this incident.;

After my disastrous mishap at Garsdale a few days prior of the same pairing with a similar snowplouigh move, I was relieved to capture it again tonight. Here is 47832 & 57601 making a brief crew change at Preston with two independent snowploughs bound for Fairwater having been maintained and stored at Eastriggs M.O.D.

The fog was extremely thick here so it's taken a lot of work to bring some contrast back, hence the somewhat washed appearance.

Little goat of mishaps

Seems she has lost her other set of eyelashes. Makeup can be such a bitch.

Never take your camera in the kitchen when you really just need to make breakfast. When it comes to photography this is my little world.

This Stratofortress, nicknamed "Wise Guy," is only the second B-52 to be returned to service from the vast military boneyard (or AMARG) in Tuscon, Arizona where she had been parked since 2008. She was pulled from storage and many long hours were spent making her airworthy again. Once it was cleared to return to the skies, it was ferried gear down to Barksdale AFB, around a week before this photo was taken. Regenerating bombers from the boneyard is a rare occasion and this BUFF was needed to replace another B-52 that was destroyed in a takeoff mishap at Andersen AFB in 2016.

Some mishaps in development, but some shots were saved.

Thankfully I took many digital photos at the reception, but the few film ones that survived had a unique look to them
