Minute, photos on Flickr

The sky was perfect for an epic sunset, lenticular clouds where forming to the north and to the south with thin layers of clouds in-between. At go time the light completely fizzled out and for a brief "Half a Minute", a 30 second window some light had popped through illuminating the lower portion of this cloud. I had passed by this spot on the way to my primary composition but then the light never happened there, I then ran from one spot to the other trying to get an improvisational composition, I think it was the greens of the bushes that lead out to the back of the scene that interested me, Oh, and of course the cool cloud back there. I shot this one at f-11 to get a little more speed because I was shooting handheld while my other camera sat on the tripod pointing at the primary composition just incase the sky went off at the last minute, which never happened :)

All in all, the trip lasted 42 hours and even though we didn't get the colors that we wanted at sunrise or sunset, I spent a lot of time testing different techniques and lenses which happened to produce one of my favorite nightscape photos to date. The "Return to Zion"

The Fairy Pools - Scotland by Jan

The Fairy Pools are a natural waterfall phenomenon in Glen Brittle on the Isle of Skye. The vivid blues and greens of the pools suggest an unnatural origin. They are a popular place for wild swimmers.

The habitat of the Fairy Pools hosts a variety of animals, such as red deer, rabbits, and sheep. The area is also host to a large number of birds. Large flocks of crows, ravens, and gulls are present in the area, as well as such smaller birds as meadow pipits, turnstones, common ringed plovers, grey herons, dunlins, and curlews. The physical landscape is predominately rocky, with some boggy areas here and there. The water in the area is typically cold.

The Fairy Pools are a popular location for walkers. It is about a 20 minute walk to the Fairy Pools from the Glen Brittle car park.
