En resumen los “Híbridos Protoss –Zerg” son una raza artificial creada en los laboratorios Terran secretos (ocultos en mundos remotos) con el propósito siniestro de destruir toda la vida del universo.

Luego de la guerra de especies (Brood War) los 3 bandos involucrados (Terran,Protoss y Zerg) se prepararon para un nuevo conflicto definitivo que devastaría la galaxia con el fuego de la guerra, un evento profetizado por los “Xel'naga” (los dioses extintos.) que volverían a reencarnar cuando nuevos cuerpos íntegramente estructurados con la “pureza de forma” (protoss) estuviera unida a la “pureza de esencia” (Zerg) completando el ciclo cósmico para rehacer el universo.

Posteriormente varios héroes descubrirían diferentes interpretaciones de la profecía “Xel'naga” revelando que los “Hibridos” que estaban despertando por la galaxia eran los culpables de provocar la guerra apocalíptica. (Detenerlos dependería de una alianza entre Terran,Protoss y Zerg.)

Como dato final los “Hibridos” son entes psíquicos y pueden tomar el control mental de cualquier ejército, dificultando su eliminación.
