It's that time of the year here in Central Illinois, a time where there is an abundance of grain trains. This one in particular is a 90 car unit train, coming from ADM in Tuscola and is bound for a customer in North Carolina. The Charleston-based crew was called for 4:00 PM and was on the train and departing Tuscola by 5:30. After a little catch-up, I was able to come across them just on the other side of Murdock, as slow orders held them up. This shot was taken a mile east of Newman, where the engineer has the two YN2-painted AC4400CW locomotives notched up out of town.
Former EJ&E SD38 #654 rides solo on the day's Hartwell RR road freight as it takes loaded grain hoppers north from Elberton, GA to the Rose Acres feed mill in Bowersville.
Seen on a recent trip to South Dakota and Minnesota.

Abandoned farmstead in central Kansas stands tall against the elements. 10 stop filter used to get 30 second exposure.
We met the landowner while taking photos and he gave us some great stories. The last occupant was his sister about 40 years ago.
As the sun pokes over the horizon the tractor trails in a browning wheat-field become very noticeable. The low sunlight creates shadows in the depressions giving this image a great depth of field.

One of Soo Line's five SD60Ms led a HATX former Chessie System GP38 leaser and a dual flag CP SD40-2 through Wadsworth on the C&M Subdivision on a winter afternoon in 1997.
With the mist and rain showers still hanging in the air the sun breaks through to reveal this delight.
This mural is a collaboration of 1500 participants from the Midwestern states and throughout North America. The tiles they painted represent their connection, affect, and experiences for the Midwest.
Each region of the country has one in a city and we were lucky enough to stumble upon this one!
Haven't had much time to get out and take any recent images, but here's one I took this fall, not far from home. Have a great Wednesday, and as always, thanks for stopping by to visit!!!!

Golden hour is in full effect as a westbound train of empty coal hoppers passes cornfields near Fairfield, NE on the sunny morning of Saturday, August 31, 2024.
With a glimpse of sunlight during mostly cloudy skies, M513-05 charges through Trenton. With BNSF 719 doing the honors, BNSF 719 wears the “Fakebonnet” paint scheme. The fakebonnet paint scheme replicates the classic Sante Fe warbonnet scheme, with the only difference being the BNSF patch on the sides of the locomotive.
Everything in this view is gone, aside from the airport itself. Skyway's B1900's and Dork Jets, the Midwest 717's scattered to the four winds. With help from Frontier and owner Republic Holdings, all gone....

"S/N" is the aircraft's serial number. "L/N" is a Boeing code denoting what order the airframe came off the production line. "F/N" refers to an individual airline's fleet numbering system. Not all airlines use a fleet number; not all manufacturers use a line number.

A year after I joined the fantastic KBS Facebook group, I finally aligned my schedule with a Lafayette run. I really enjoyed the vintage aspect behind all these branches running through the Iroquois region. It feels like these lines *should* be abandoned, but they’re still here and rich in history. The KBS hasn’t changed much, but it’s still a midwest classic. There isn’t anything less offensive than a non-dynamic second gen geep
