Finnish midsummer in Saarikylät, Kangasala.

After the pole is dressed with leaves (oak in this case) and flowers (more to put on) the pole is raised during songs and handclapping. Afterwards people are dancing round the pole.

In Sweden Midsummer Eve is always celebrated on a Friday. So actually it can be some days after the solstice.

Well, the bonfire got a bit low, so someone had to get some more wood.... by torch light

The worlds highest midsummer bonfire 40,45m high. New record for the Guiness Book of Records. Lit at ten o`clock in the evening, burning till the next morning. (Unfortunately a little fog in the air so the picture is not clear.)

From Sollentuna, Sweden. A fun dance meant as amusement for the kids.

Our group of merry friends celebrated the fact that from now (then) on the days will be shorter and we'll actually have real nights soon(ish). In a way, I get really depressed about it even though it's the brightest day of the year with hardly any dark hours at all. However. Friends and amusements!

It was a rainy midsummer but I managed to get this photoshoot of Samelia doing some midsummer magic and lighting a bonfire. Sun even started shining after 10pm which was nice.

Old tradition to be followed - midsummer celebration in Estonia on the shortest night of the year - 23rd of June when sun does not set: national bird barn swallow

On Saturday June 25, 2010, we attended Peter Felfe and Active Ideas Productions' Midsummer Celebration (A Swedish & German Summer Celebration), Southampton, New York. This event featured art exhibits from artists Annika Connor and Martina Molin. There were performances by Vivien Schweitzer and Robert Boston, who are both pianists, and Niranjana Shankar, singer. Special guests in attendance include Gerard Araud, French Ambassador to the UN, and Pascal Blondeau, French artist/photographer. It truly was a beautiful celebration.

Late spring on Midsummer Hill, Malvern.

Actually, I took this picture because of my Assplates of Blazing WTF. That little golden flower down there barely covers my pubes. I'm more covered when I'm just in my underwear.

Usually I look wayyy more covered-up than this. I only look like this when I take off my belt.
