Visited the Prästgårdsparken in Sorunda during the Midsummer celebrations. They have a very different take on how the "Midsommarstång" should look like. It's a tradition that dates back many years. Didn't stay for the dancing this time so this is as traditional as it got. But I did enjoy a bite of the famous Sorundatårta, a pastry with a very secret recipe.

Midsummer Wikipedia:
Midsummer is the period of time centered upon the summer solstice, and more specifically the European celebrations that accompany the actual solstice or take place on a day between June 21 and June 24 and the preceding evening. The exact dates vary between different cultures. Midsummer is especially important in the cultures of Scandinavia, Estonia and Latvia where it is the most celebrated holiday apart from Christmas.

This is an ANTIQUE Japanese Kurotomesode. Kurotomesode are formal kimono for married women. Nowadays they are mostly worn by the mother of the bride at weddings. This kimono likely originates in Taisho Period (1912 - 1926). This kurotomesode features a very subtle but graceful pattern of bellflowers and summer grasses bending in the breeze. It is made from ro silk; a light weight, perforated silk for summer wear. It also comes complete with a hiyoku; a second layer around the hem and collar to create a layering effect when the garment is worn. This kimono has five ivy crests.
I have inspected this kimono in detail, there are only a few small, faint marks on the exterior. However, hiyoku has a lot of discolouration on it. Overall, I would rate this kurotomesode in good to excellent antique condition. This garment is 100% silk. Damage photos will be posted shortly.
MEASUREMENTS:
149cm - Long (Collar to Hem)
122cm - Arm span
58cm - Width across the back
124cm - Total width of skirt
49cm - Sleeve drop
SIZING:
If you are unsure of how to interpret the kimono's size it is important to know that the length (collar - hem) should be approximately 10cm longer to 10cm shorter than the wearer's overall height (longer is better). This is because the excess length will be folded up at the waist. Meanwhile, the skirt should wrap around the hips a full 1.5 times. The armspan should also reach wrist to wrist on the wearer. In this case, the kimono will ideally fit a woman about 139cm (4'7") - 159cm (5'3") tall, with hips about 83cm (32.5") around. There is some give and take in these measurements though.
Whoever comes to the Istituto Linguistico Mediterraneo, arrives bringing with them their own color and their own way of living life and when they return home they bring with them a bit 'of color from all the people they have met. We are not from Italy, or Spain, or Japan, neither from Israel, or America, or Europe, neither from Africa, or Brazil or Uruguay... We are a family ... Yesterday we mixed all our colors in a party the craziest ever seen. Balloons, fancy dresses, colorful cocktails, soap bubbles and of course many colors... your colours... our colors...

The grave of John Clare in Helpston churchyard, during the John Clare Festival 2016. The floral tributes are Midsummer Cushions, made by the children of the village school and laid beside the grave each year on Clare's birthday, 13th July.
When village children, wild for sport,
In school-time's leisure, ever short,
Alternate catch the bounding ball;
Or run along the church-yard wall,
Capp'd with rude figured slabs, whose claims
In time's bad memory have no names;
Or race around the nooky church;
Or raise loud echoes in the porch;
Throw pebbles o'er the weather-cock,
Viewing with jealous eyes the clock;
Or leap o'er grave-stones' leaning heights,
Uncheck'd by melancholy sights,
Though green grass swells in many a heap
Where kin, and friends, and parents sleep.
They think not, in their jovial cry,
The time will come, when they shall lie
As lowly and as still as they;
While other boys above them play.

Stonehenge has an opening in the henge earthwork facing northeast, and suggestions that particular significance was placed by its builders on the solstice and equinox points have followed. For example, the summer solstice sun rose close to the Heel Stone, and the sun's first rays shone into the centre of the monument between the horseshoe arrangement. While it is possible that such an alignment can be coincidental, this astronomical orientation had been acknowledged since William Stukeley drew the site and first identified its axis along the midsummer sunrise in 1720.
