Our car told us that our key needed a new battery. I opened up the fob, and found this. A little more complex than the average old fashioned key.

I have no idea what controller this LCD is, I've never seen it working. It was pulled from a dead Intel SmallOffice server (whatever the hell that means). Those pieces of crap ran a proprietary WindowsNT4 server, but had no head (!!!). I tore apart the case to use it, and then threw it away. I still have the LCD module.

Update: Not certain, but OC and I are pretty sure it's from the same family (or perhaps is a) HG12605 - so I'm going to try hooking it up soon. I have two, and they may eventually go to replace the dash in my burban.

Aligning all these pins and soldering this piece down is tricky.

One of the N/C pads actually lifted off the board when I was soldering.. (Thats a first). Luckily that pad does not connect to anything.
