Just before we packed up and tacked into a Full Cornish breakfast reward in the adjacent Godolphin Arms.

If you ever decide to raid the castle on St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall, England, this is what you're up against. Note the small tourist people trying to do just that on the left side. It is actually a beautiful walk up through the castle gardens and you are well rewarded with outstanding views of Mount's Bay, Marazian and Penzance.

The St. Michael's monastery and cathedral is named after the patron saint of Kyiv. It was originally built in the 12th century, destroyed by the Soviets in the 1930s as they believed “it lacked any historical or cultural value”, and rebuilt after the Ukraine independence.

This wasn't the photo I was looking to get this morning, as the tide was a bit two high and strong seas I thought better of getting the original photo

The 15th-century church of St Michael and All Angels stands at the western edge of Coxwold village. There has been a church here as early as the 8th century but the present building dates entirely to the period 1420-1430. It is best known for its links to the novelist Laurence Stern, who served as vicar here.

Author and priest Laurence published the first two volumes of his nine-volume opus Tristam Shandy in 1759. The book was so successful that Sterne was appointed as the curate of St Michael's church in 1760. He lived at the rectory, which he renamed Shandy Hall.

A flying visit one evening to Marazion and the famous island of St Michael's Mount.

Cornwall, midday in summer, not exactly the best light and conditions...but, take what I can, when I can

A bright sunny afternoon in Mount's Bay, Cornwall. Loads of tourists mostly blurred out by long exposure. Taken at low tide when the beach, and causeway are fully accessible.

Would've been great to be there at sunset....but sadly not possible...

Having taken some photos from the causeway, I moved around the bay a little to get some different compositions. In hindsight I think this rockpool has probably been used by many other photographers before, but I can see why there's a draw to it as it works nicely with the reflections in the sky.

Thanks very much for viewing. Have a great weekend :-)

Seen here is an evening view from high atop Brent Tor, at the Church of St Michael de Rupe. Brent Tor is located on the western edge of Dartmoor (just north of Tavistock), and rises to approximately 1,100 feet. This very small church (also known as Saint Michael of the Rock), dates back to around the 13th century. The building is still in use today, and holds approximately 40 people during a service.

The original story behind the church was that it was to be built at the bottom of Brent Tor, but the devil himself had other plans in mind. It was said that he planned to stop the church's construction, and would move the building’s construction materials to the top of the hill each night. The locals vowed to defy the devil, and instead completed the construction at the top of the Tor.*

Snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis) in St Michael's churchyard

St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery is a functioning monastery in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The monastery is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River on the edge of a bluff northeast of the Saint Sophia Cathedral. The site is located in the historic administrative Uppertown and overlooks the city's historical commercial and merchant quarter, the Podil neighbourhood.

Originally built in the Middle Ages by the Kievan Rus' ruler Sviatopolk II Iziaslavych, the monastery comprises the Cathedral itself, the Refectory of St. John the Divine, built in 1713, the Economic Gates, constructed in 1760 and the monastery's bell tower, which was added c.1716–1719. The exterior of the structure was rebuilt in the Ukrainian Baroque style in the 18th century while the interior remained in its original Byzantine style. The original cathedral was demolished by the Soviet authorities in the 1930s, but was reconstructed and opened in 1999 following Ukrainian independence in 1991.

I'm back after my visit to Cornwall. My holiday home didn't have WiFi as advertised, hence my radio silence.

Stunning sunrise at St Michael's Mount this morning

a shot from a visit to St Michael's Mount for my birthday two years ago.

I'd gone down for sunset on both nights of our stay and this was definitely the better evening.

As the tide was in I opted for a long exposure to smooth out the water giving the shot a more dreamy look.

I will get out with my camera and shoot some new images soon, my weekend days are busy at the moment with overtime at work and house renovations so I haven't had much time to go out and play.

This shot looks a bit monochrome, but a combination of shooting into a low autumn sun and the sand which was quite dark and silty, gave this effect.

The church of St Michael at Winson lies in a pretty setting just off the quiet lane that leads from Bibury and Adlington to Coln Rogers in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire. It’s not known when the first chapel was built at Winson, but it was in existence before the mid 12th century. The table tombs on the left date from the 17th and 18th centuries.
