these pictures were taken at merlin's bar in binghamton, ny. the lights are out back and very rainbow-ey. i used a long shutter speed... and what else, i have no idea. i don't know what i'm doing when i use my camera most of the time. that's clearly evident, but whatever.

Squeezey arm thing. Blood pressure cuff. I know. It was more amusing at the time to call things by descriptors. It was early in the morning *well earlier then I usally am awake on a monday morning* and I was really easily amused.

फाशी जाताना त्यांचे वय अवघे २३ वर्षांचे होते. शहिद भगतसिंग यांची आज जयंती सप्टेंबर २८, १९०७ रोजी भगतसिंग, मृत्यू : मार्च २३, १९३१. लाहोरच्या तुरुंगात हसत हसत फासावर गेले. फाशी जाताना त्यांचे वय अवघे २३ वर्षांचे होते. भारताला स्वातंत्र्य मिळावे म्हणून अनेकांनी हौतात्म्य पत्करले. अनेक वीर शहीद झाले. त्या सर्वांनाच इतिहासात एक मानाचे स्थान आहे. पण त्या सशस्त्र क्रांतिकारकांतही भगतसिंग यांचे स्थान अद्वितीय आहे. म्हणूनच त्यांनी ’शहीद-ए-आलम’ असा किताब दिला जातो. त्यांच्या स्मरणार्थ २३ मार्च हा दिवस, भारतात शहीद दिन म्हणून पाळला जातो. भगतसिंग हे एक क्रांतिकारी विचारांचे लेखक आणि पत्रकार होते. ते बाहेरून अत्यंत शांत, निग्रही विनम्र आणि हळवे वाटत असले ते अंतर्मनात अतिशय ज्वालाग्राही,तडफदार आणि कणखर होते.ते निरीश्वरवादी होते. पुनर्जन्मावर त्यांचा विश्वास नव्हता,पण जर पुनर्जन्म असलाच तर पुन्हा याच देशात जन्माला येण्याची त्यांची इच्छा होती.
गुलामी आणि दारिद्ऱ्य हे जगातले सर्वांत घोर पाप असेल तर त्याच्यासाठी देवाला साकडे घालण्यापेक्षा स्वतःला सक्षम करण्याचा व त्यागावाचून आणि साहसावाचून उद्धार नसल्याचा संदेश देणारे त्यांचे विचार आणि लिखाण होते. आपल्याच आदरस्थानी मानलेल्या नेत्यांनी निर्भत्सना केल्यावरही विचलित वा क्षुब्ध न होता वा त्यांना कसलेही दूषण न देता आपले कार्य तितक्याच निष्ठेने सुरू ठेवणारे तेे एक अलौकिक व्यक्तिमत्त्व होते. भगतसिंगांचे वाचन,व्यासंग दांडगा होता.क्रांतिसाहित्याने त्यांना जणू झपाटून टाकले होते. सचिंद्रनाथ संन्याल यांचे 'बंदी जीवन' हे त्यांना प्रभावित करणारे बहुधा पहिले पुस्तक असावे.ऑस्कर
