First time in a real studio with real lighting . So much to learn. Had a great group of models which made it easier.

Now I have notice that people are not intrested in my screen printing 365's like they are other peoples supply pictures of buttons and such, so I tried to make it more interesting.. though I fell into the trap of thinking looking at things through a microscope is interesting, whereas most people are not sad like me and do not .
So tomorrow we'll be looking and buttons and wool through a microscope.
Screenshot of custom (personal) Processing tool for generating the enclosure for the "Opto-Isolator II". In plan, the shell is a series of interpolated superquadrics; in section, it is a physical simulation of a relaxing dough ball. (The dough is simulated with a springy finite-element model.) The trick is to set the parameters of the dough correctly so that it relaxes just enough -- but not so much that it fails to enclose the interior components of the robot. The diagram beneath the mesh is being used as a guide; it shows the side and diagonal sections of Greg Baltus' interior mechanics overlaid with the side and diagonal sections of the dough blob.
The shell will be printed with black-chrome electroplated SLA... bling! Props to Scott Summit for the manufacturing tips, and to Greg Baltus for his patience while I've hacked this up...

This weeks theme is Black and White, and I hope this little guy is a good choice. I'm not sure what kind of moth it is, so if anyone can help me identify it, I'd appreciate it. The normal color is really a rather sepia tone, so it was almost black and white anyway : )

(This was taken with my Kodak point and shoot camera, I'm still working on learning how to get a good shot out of it. It doesn't have a viewfinder, you have to use the screen, and it's so hard to see it on a sunny day! I thought these little camera's were supposed to be simple to operate, lol!)
