Remember my old spider friend? (here it is) Well, I went back to my kitchen this morning, and it was still here, ready for a new posing session! This time I tried a focus stack, took 7 shots with different focus settings (yes, my model is very patient! :) ). I tried several solutions to combine them, but the best of these, both for quality of results and speed, was undoubtedly CombineZP, a free software created by Alan Hadley.
Tripod, natural light + home-made reflector, LightRoom for post-processing.

After hearing that LL is releasing mesh this summer and reading about mesh avs I got inspired to make things :D I started working on this head mesh on the beta viewer. It has smoother feel than the normal av head, but it still needs a lot of work.
You can read more about mesh avs here: juicybomb.com/2011/06/03/yabusaka-mesh-avatar/ I don't plan on making a whole av body because I would want to be able to wear my regular SL clothes.
I'll probably go more outside of the realm of hair making when mesh comes out. Sculpted prims are so hard to work when they need to be a very specific shape.
Used on drywall installations or repairing holes in drywall, the mesh is applied over seams or holes; then the joint compound is applied over the mesh with a putty knife.

I admit. I was slow to adopt a mesh body, because I felt like I had done a good job with my system one. But I finally jumped on the wagon, and the two spots that I gripe about with the system body were gone. The spot inboard of the ball of your shoulders, just at the end of the collarbones to the armpits, and the curve of the hips from the waist. (and yeah, still sporting a system head. I will be until I get a full control Bento one...)
